New owner - 2012 X5
I've been a longtime lurker and although not new to the brand (previously owned a 2007 328i), this is my first X5 and first SUV for that matter. I've learned a lot from this forum and would like to share my experiences.
When the time came to turn in my 2010 G37x at lease end I decided to move up to an SUV. I test drove the new MDX but could not justify paying that much for a FWD based AWD SUV. Was never a fan of Audi and MB so didn’t even bother test driving them. Porsche was too much $ so stayed away from that as well and always kept coming back to the X5. My two main requirements were having the third row and the M-sport package. I quickly realized that finding an X5 with these as well as other must have options for me like CA, comfort seats etc. in the color of my choice (blue) was next to impossible. I didn’t want a diesel and was mostly looking for a 35i without giving much thought to the V8 variant. I really wanted to get the F15 but it wasn’t out then and I couldn’t wait that long so started looking for pre-owned E70’s. Four months ago I came across a 2012 X5 50i at the local dealer. It was blue with 13K miles on it and was loaded to the gills with an original MSRP of $77.5K. The only options it didn’t have were the 3rd row and the M-sport pack. Since I had never driven a 50i before I decided to take it for a spin. It took just one test drive to make me forget about the 3rd row and the M-Sport package and I decided to go ahead with the purchase. I never thought I’d pay $50K+ for a used vehicle but it felt worth it. So far I’ve put 7K miles on it in four months and have loved every single one of it. As for mods, I plan on upgrading the wheels and suspension in the near future -topics for future posts. Here are some iPhone pics I took at the time of delivery. Would appreciate any feedback/suggestions. Last edited by hashmanx; 12-29-2014 at 11:45 PM.. |

very nice combination indeed. Leather dash and aluminum trim is so rare. I was not able to find this combination my self. You just need some performance black grills, a set of 20's and fender flares.

Want 22" wheels but the choices are very limited so I might just go with 20's. Thanks!

Very nice! My father's previous E70 was the same colour and I loved it. Question: I can see it does not have the M Sport, but does it have a Sport package? I see a regular Sport steering wheel but no 20s and fender flares...

I like the black headliner but with black seats the interior looks very dark. Glad it has the alum trim to break up the monotony

If you take up on bmw 4.8 e70's offer, I would be interested in your steering wheel. I live in Atlanta.
Congratulations on your new X5, looks great! |

finnbmw, why don't you get bmw_4.8_e70's wheel? It'll be a major step up from a regular one if you have that.

I am not interested in the m wheel for the same reason, mine has heated steering wheel feature as well. Love it on those cold mornings!

Nice color! I have the same interior on the M and I think it's the cat's tits! Tint the front windows to match the rear, and it will really set off the exterior.
