2011 X5M - Spacer questions

Is anyone running spacers on a stock X5M?


Im currenlty running stock wheels and tires and would like to have a more aggressive stance.

I have read 15mm on all 4 corners and also ready 18mm rear , 15mm front but they both have diff hub sizes, correct? hub-centric vs lug-centric?

Where should I buy some reasonably priced spaced and what all do I need to get to make this look like it has a propper M stance?

On my X5d with 20" i have 12mm front and 20mm rear on the ///M I have 15mm up front and 25mm in the rear and I wouldn't change a thing. I have seen 30mm in the rear it was a little much for me personally. I am not sure I have any pictures uploaded to my photobucket...I'll see what I can find and post back.
I have H&R spacers the rears bolt to the hub and then the wheels bolt to the spacer and the front spacer uses longer bolts. The rear hubs are smaller than the front 74.2 vs 72.2 (roughly I might be off by 0.2) the spacers still retain the hub centric set up.

Here are some shots from my 2011 M sport. I am using the 25mm H&R rear spacers and the 13mm fronts that i purchased from ECS tuning. No problems what so ever and no steering wheel vibrations.

Is H&R the only company offering fitment for the X5M right now? One of my buddies told me to stay away from H&R spacers?

i've run h&r spacers on my audi a7, and nissan GT-R with no problems. the only downside is they are a tad on the heavy side. CNC billet spacers would be the way to go. i ended up switching the GT-R spacers for some custom milled billet spacers from http://www.motorsport-tech.com/ they're probably the nicest spacers out completely custom and 100% made in the USA. the only reason i changed the spacers from h&r to the custom ones is i wanted an absolute perfect fitment on the gtr and h&r didn't have off the shelf fitments

I noticed you went with the front spacers that ECS makes themselves instead of H&R. Have you heard of anyone having problems with these ECS spacers?

your rears are H&R and just painted them black to match?

Just painted them to match. I went with the ECS fronts and the longer black lugs because they had them in stock along with the H&R rears.

I can't help but chuckle a little when comparing the weight of spacers. Considering how much the factory wheels and tires weigh on these pigs, it would hardly matter in my estimation. (I can see the point on something like the GT-R above, even though that wasn't the primary reason for switching.)

I run H&R spacers with a Macht Schnell stud conversion on my 50i MSport. 20mm rear, 15mm front. I like it a lot.

I've used H&R spacers on multiple vehicles for a lot of years without problems. As long as it's a good hub-centric fit, I don't see how a spacer could be "bad" when compared to another brand??

Soooo...tell me about your brake calipers. Did you paint them? Those look great.

Got a wire brush and a scotch brite pad and removed the rust and used some High heat semi gloss paint. the anti rattle clips were cleaned and polished with steel wool. I did this when i replaced all the brake pads to the low dust Akebono's

Did you end up masking-off the rotors, etc. while you did so? And how are the Akebono's treating you? I hate OEM pad dust...

I can only imagine how much more the side skirts get hammered when you're putting those wheels even further out...

Mine were already hammered when I bought it. I'm having them resprayed and applying stonegard later this year or early next.

and thanks![/QUOTE I had the rotors off since i replaced them with the brake performance rotors. I hung the calipers with a wire and painted them. As for the Akebono's they are great! No brake dust or noise.

I have heard it's possible but I have yet to see anyone that has done it that way. The typical way to do it is to change out a small rod on the level sensor. It takes about 10min to change them out. They come with Most lowering kits or you can buy them individually. I can't recall the guy that sells them he was a member on one of the forums but if you google X5 lowering rods I am sure you could find them.

Im digging it. Looking to add 30mm in rear and may leave the front as is. Too may rock chips on the front of rear fender. Looks great!

I was running 30mm H&R spacers in the rear for about 8 months with no problems. I have heard that ECS spacers are also just as good
