Cheap mod inner door handle

The other day wifey complained for sticky inner door handle.. the new one cost about $95 buks OEM, the china made cost about $18 buks., I preferred OEM parts.. thought may just wrapped it with 6D carbon, we'll see how long its going to be last.

Great job. However, the handle is leather and is sticky from oils. You can also deep clean it with a quality leather cleaner, then protect it with a leather conditioner.

Fyi, new China door handle from eBay was $13 bucks shipped for me.
Non-sense failure like these, I could careless where its made from.
Now back to my x3 where the glove compartment door is peeling. Is there a country that oem bmw is building there parts? Because its way below the China level.

I just bought a black leather purse from the thrift store cut it to size and superglued on the existing sticky plastic.

Agreed, failure sticky, melted inner door handle??? it just sounds not right.
I also was goin to buy it from Ebay when i read the item description from the seller it just made me think twice.

Please allow 1-3cm error due to manual measurement. Please make sure you do not mind before you bid.

1-3cm error measurement? that means will not fit or seat correctly?? How was your Ebay door handle, got pic?

I just bought a new to me 2012 X5d and all of the inner door handles are yucky, to the point where they're even chunked a bit. I priced the OEM pieces, but would love to spend much less. Any suggestions on good aftermarket sellers?

What are people doing with these door handles to make them sticky or otherwise not feel like they should 🤮

Maybe I'm lucky that the handles in my 13' X5M feel like they just came off the showroom floor?

In my case, no clue. I bought it with ~74K miles and the inner door pulls were super yucky. I have beige interior, and the pulls were dark, sticky and chunked. I definitely want to replace them, but would prefer not to spend ~$85 x 3.

I would try a few rounds of a good leather cleaner like Leatherique Pristine Clean with a soft bristle brush first and then treat with their Rejuvinator. If by chunked you mean that they have pieces of leather missing then that might not be feasible. Maybe the people had dirty hands with lots of rings lol.

If that doesn't work then I would go for the OEM ones.

I ordered from here. Look and fit is exactly like OEM.

Thanks, just ordered this. I do almost entirely OEM parts on the car, hell I spent the $500 for the underhood bits, but with all 3 door handles sticky as hell, I don't really feel like spending big BMW bucks for a little plastic.

I don't get people saying you can clean it with leather cleaner. It's like a sticky tar pit, and is apparently plastic. All 3 handles are that way. They're bloody disgusting. Granted, car has 160k on it, but it's super super super clean otherwise, very well maintained. Could be heat; windows are tinted, but the car has sat outside its whole life, usually with a windshield sun deflector though, and it doesn't get insanely hot in the SF bay area, not like SoCal or Arizona

Will try to remember to post back when I install the front passenger one. If that's good I'll order a pair for the rear too.

Only my passenger side was gummy, but this $11 ebay handle was a cheap/easy fix...

Thanks to Merrill80. The Amazon part was just the trick. Finally got around to replacing the front passenger side. Going to do the other 2 now.

The original door handle was truly foul. The rubber just disintegrates. See video of me poking it with a screwdriver.
