I sold a part to someone six months ago, and it turns out that it’s defective
So, I sold a part about six months ago after having it installed on my vehicle for a couple of months. I had no issues with it during that time - I only sold it because it just wasn’t what I thought it would be.
The buyer waited six months to install it. Now, they are saying it doesn’t work, so we are trying to figure out how to get the company to RMA it. However, it is a bit complicated because I originally obtained the part from a third party that does product reviews, not directly from the OEM. I paid only half the original price in exchange for letting them install and review the product using my car. I am in contact with the buyer’s installer, and they are being helpful by trying to contact the OEM to see if there is something they can make happen. Thankfully, the buyer has not asked for their money back from me - at least not yet. I don’t have the money, and since I sold it to them six months ago, I feel I shouldn’t have to issue a refund. But, I will feel bad if there is nothing we can do to get a replacement part. I have never had a bad sale here or anywhere else, and I’ve never any issues with payment either. Thanks for you feedback. |

You sold it 6 months ago. If there was no guarantee as part of the sale then it’s a done deal and let them sell it on their own

Yeah they sat on it for 6 months before they could do the install due to medical reasons and work.
It worked fine when I sold it but they hooked it up and it doesn’t work. Thanks for your opinions. I do feel the same. |

If it truthfully worked when you sold it and they waited six months it's on them. You're being more than accomodating enough given the situation.
I would have washed my hands up it.

The fact you're trying to help them with the issue is more than enough. There should be no expectation of any refunds...especially after so much time has passed. Heck, I know of some situations where warranties don't even go 6 months.
Also, you're taking their word for it that they didn't do something to damage the product. Not saying this is the case but you never know with the world the way it is. |

I don't necessarily agree with everyone who says tough shit for the buyer. I've been in similar situations in the past and it sucks.
What the item was and what it sold for does make a little bit of a difference. Are we talking hundreds of dollars...is it something that could have been damaged during install? |

Regardless of who is responsible, I don't think OP should be telling the seller to F-Off, as was suggested by some. I'm sure if any one of us were the buyer here and truthful(again, not insinuating the buyer is lying, either) we'd be pretty upset about it and expect assistance. If the OP is the original purchase of the part, then any manufacturer assistance would likely have to come through him. |

Everyone is working together on trying to resolve this issue.
I was just looking for people opinions. The manufacturer is willing to send another part if they can get an order number. I bought the part from a person the gets products sent to them by companies to do DIY video installed so it was brand new but I didn’t order it so I have no order number. |

Personally? I think the buyer is a grade A-arsehole for even bothering you with this. It's one thing if the part is broke and he notices it right away. Six months later? GTFO here.

Am I the only one that is still waiting patiently to find out what the Part is???? Let us know and maybe we can further understand if the "Defect" is from the Manufacturer or Maybe related to an install mistake. Either way WHAT WAS IT! LMAO....

Apparently photos are not being uploaded today. Let's all imagine (like a cut scene from Scrubs where everyone tilts their head and looks up slowly) that I posted pretty funny picture of Brad Pitt from the movie Se7en, crying about what is in the box. |
