What was the issue? I didn’t notice the jack stands at first and was like “why the hell is the engine just sitting on the ground?” Lol...I’m used to seeing the actual engine stands underneath.

The exhuast manifold gasket was basically gone, and the manifold itself was pretty warped, I've been battling between the shops with diffrent answers/diagnostics from each one and so I finally pulled the trigger with this shop.

my apologies on the late reply! the screeching and squeal was from exhaust from the manifold, originally bmw told me it was my turbo squealing but they said they were not 100% sure I even asked them which one, there reply " we are not sure" so the. several other shops told me it was the turbo then one shop said it was the exhaust manifold gasket, so I was just confused so I spoke with several other people including Larry at AARodregezi very knowledgeable guy and they know what they are talking about so I went with the shop that said the manifold gasket and now it is fixed!

So, pulled the engine in order to change the supposedly-warped exhaust manifold? Crazy!
Since you are planning emissions delete, that would have required to take off DPF. Work to get the DPF out would already give access to removing the turbos in order to access the manifold. So, since the engine is out now, do the emissions delete now. I did a planning mistake like this recently. Changed all vacuum hoses (required taking a lot of stuff off the engine), only to have to do that again for emissions delete mere couple weeks later. It sucked to waste that much time. |
