Did I Cook My Brakes?
I did a track day yesterday at Thunderhill but it was a little rainy and the track wasn't fully dry. So I decided to run in MDM (supposedly Euro MDM but didn't feel like it). I tried to limit my sessions to less than 20 min each to let the car cool down. However, in the afternoon when I checked my Pagid RS29 pads, they were pretty white, including the yellow brake pad backing. I didn't lose any braking ability, my pedal didn't get mushy or anything but this is concerning me. I'm also running Castrol SRF so no idea how this happened. Pics below are from this morning and you can still see some of the whiteness on the pads (although the rest is probably is covered in dust). The plate of the brake pads are not yellow anymore as you can see. I would like to get you guys' opinion on what I should do with these.

Perfectly normal. Mine look worse than that after their first session .
As long as your braking is strong, you're good to go . I see you don't have much transfer layer on the disc. I have much smear than that. Did you properly bed them in? ...or maybe you did not get quite enough heat in them due to the wet weather.

When I was driving to track, I did 4 90mph to 50mph stops (medium braking) and immediately followed by 3 110mph to 50mph stops (hard braking without engaging abs). Maybe I didn't do a very good job... |

I daily my RS29 for most of the summer. As long as you have a good transfer layer on the rotors, the squeal is quite bearable, more like an occasional peep. If you wear off the transfer layer with too much street driving, they will start to squeal again. Since I have a track day every 7-14 days in the summer, it is quite manageable for me. The main annoyance is the pads slapping in the calipers during forward-reverse transition, but I don't mind it too much. I do swap back to street pads if I plan a long road trip though (the wife hates the squeal when we pull up in hotel ramps ).

The 29's are fine for street use in general. At worst they'll squeal. I normally get about a week or so and then they start squealing annoyingly (daily driving). The forward/reverse rattle is my biggest complaint as well. However,I've had much louder pads on the street compared to these Pagid's. |

I wore my pads down to the backing plates one time(don't ask) and mine looked much worse. They look fine to me. Couple of weeks of regular driving they will look good as new
