Dinan stage 1 - X6M
Should I or shouldn't I.
Dinan is running a 50% off sale, so their stage one upgrade is now 1500.00 Is this worthwhile on my X6M?

$1500 for only stage 1?!?!??! Hell no! Contact Halim/HCP for his awesome stage 2. When that gets boring, couple it with the JB4, BCM and meth for tweaking above and beyond a flash tune :-)

Would prefer to stick with something I can recognize vs a social media tuning company... I am sure he is great, but your links in other posts go to dead ends, and I don't do instagram, etc... At least with Dinan, I can call someone with a problem including my dealer who will do the install... Thanks for the information though...

I understand Dinan had a nice site and responsive, but trust me...they're the worst HP per $ out there but it's your money. At least they'll answer right away when you call and ask why you just spent $1500 but it doesn't feel $1500 faster and I'm sure they'll be quick to offer you their stage 2 for even more money but spin it with some fluffed discount since you're a repeat customer on their already overpriced stuff. My GF loves to tell me about sales, but my first question is "50% off their 150% overpriced products?" Last edited by m5james; 02-14-2017 at 09:11 PM.. |

Check over on the M5 boards...it's been shown that all these tunes are pretty much a base BR tune, tweaked a little by each tuner and then a random price made. I got his tune a year ago, he's gotten larger and I'd say he's mainstream over there just as much as anyone else without the corporate "mainstream" markup. Good luck.

I did the Turner Motorsports Tune, it cost about $800 and I installed it myself in about two hours. I am happy with it so far, but with all of these tunes you do not get the extra HP until you get above around 6200 RPM. So I rarely ever use it since I mostly drive in city traffic.

What stage did you get? Mine feels the exact opposite in that I feel it right away and throughout the power band. Daily driving feels better than ///M mode and ///M mode feels like it's pulling me into the seat the moment boost comes on, the bark between shifts is louder...I love it, it makes me wish the backup camera worked at speed because I'm hoping I'm getting a little flame at least :-)

If you're going to do a piggyback module, you might as well go JB4...same gains to be had right outta the box, and while not required but more beneficial, you'll also have the option of datalogging, finer tuning, more boost, etc and it'll cost the same. Seems you're determined to think that just because you spend more that you'll get more...simply not true. At least with JB4 you get to tick your box of brand name.
