Dinan VS H&R
Just trying to do some research on springs for the X5M. There's a ton of stuff here on the H&R set up but not much on the Dinan. The H&R can be had for about $300, and the same with Dinan.
What's the difference between the two? Does anyone here have a Dinan set up? How's it holding up? Any reason to get one over the other? Thanks!! |

You should be able to search for several threads on the H&R. Basically everyone says if you do springs you should replace the struts with ones meant for springs otherwise the ride is aweful and bouncy. But then you pretty much bought coilovers so that's the best route. I've only seen one thread with someone that has dinan and they said the ride was stick but the ride height looks stock also. It's only a 0.75" drop with dinan. Just google dinan springs and X5M and look for a white truck then find the link.

The dinan set has "Ride height sensor rods" that limit ride height in the rear with air suspension so the only actual springs are in the front. They are supposed to still work with EDC and not throw codes.

I too have self leveling suspension with bags (M sport package) fellow I suppose. H&R springs for $300 to lower the X5? Are camber kits/spacers necessary? I may just have opened up a whole can of worms.

If you want more positive camber to prevent wear they may be necessary. I haven't lowered an e70 but lowering my M3 I ended up having to buy camber arms with more adjustment. A lot of people buy the different camber upper front control arm from BMW but you can buy bushing sets from k-mac that have eccentric bolts or the adjustable strut mounts. I think the bushings are the cheapest route. Not sure spacers are necessary for anything other than looks unless you're increasing tire size

About to go that route and have heard quite a bit of things about H&R 1.2" and the tire wear and the need of the camber adjustment/arms... Any suggestions here?
