Deciding on OE Brake Pads vs Aftermarket

Hey guys, my brakes are due, front and back. I dont care about dust. I do care for a great bite and low to no noise brake pad. Debating between OE, Stoptech, Hawk HPS, Akebono Euro, Ferodo and Etc. Can someone point me in the appropriate direction. I do engage in a spirited driving every other day. But i dont track with this car

For street pads, it seems like Stoptech and Akebono Euro are mentioned the most. I've settled on Akebono for my next set.

There are a couple of new Hawks worth looking at, the street track and hps 5.0. But if you want low dust go ceramic. Ceramic may also be cheaper.

Akebono is my next pad, if I don't BBK.

The issue with going ceramic is that you lose the initial bite we've all come to love. It will be hard moving away from that, regardless of dust-free results. My brakes say 18000 so it's not my time. Yet.

IMO the OEM pads are tough to beat as street pads. Dusty and don't like a ton of heat, but quiet, great cold bite and modulation and great wear as long as they aren't overheated. Hard to fight the impulse to screw with it I know but I have circled back. If I could find that compound in an ST40 pad shape I would totally buy it.

That's one thing the Steeet Performance pass don't do. My oe rear calipers with ate pads dust more than the fronts

I'm running the Akebonos. Definitely not as grabby as the stock pads but my wheels stay clean! Happy with them so far, I don't track though

I run Stop Tech Street and think they dust a lot.

I use PFC Z-rated pads and am very happy with them.

Z-Rated Brake Pads - PFC Part No. 0918.10 (Front)

Z-Rated Brake Pads - PFC Part No. 0919.10 (Rear)

I just put the hawk hps 5.0 on my turbo e36 m3. They are fine. Nothing special in my opinion. Had stop tech street on it but did not like them on that car (have stop tech street on my e90 m3 and think they are fine in that application).

I use z-rated pads on the E46M3. Likely to use them on the E90M3 when I need new pads/rotors too. Work well when swapping to PFC-08 pads for track time.

Z-rated have less initial bite than stock. They also dust a ton less. Easy to modulate.
