Does urea injection require programming for X5d?
Hello,
I am in the market of a used X5d. The maintainance plan ends in 2016, and I'm curious for those who are currently paying out of pocket for maintenance, how much are you paying for the urea service? I'm new to diesel car ownership, if I add the urea myself, how easy is it? And if it is easy, how much are you paying the dealer to reset the computer/counter at every top off? Can this be done by a indie shop? I'm confused with this, b/c when I called my own dealership, they said that once you add the urea, the car automatically resets and recalculates the next top off interval with no programming needed thanks Last edited by Flying Ace; 01-07-2015 at 06:26 PM.. |

$12-15 for a 2.5 gal jug from Walmart or any auto parts chain stores, you'll need a couple every 10K miles or so.
Plus one time investment of ~$8 for a smaller bottle from a VW dealer that you then cut and use as a funnel. Nothing to reprogram/reset/etc. |

thanks, I recall reading something about using a smaller bottle for a funnel. I thought that funnel is the BMW's bottle? You're saying the VW bottle is a better funnel? |
