Engine bay with catch cans, passenger side is hidden a bit, wanted them both up so they are easily reachable but the configuration of the hose inputs and size makes it difficult, need good amount of 1’ ID hose that isn’t super thick and bends well using way more than I want right now.
Also recirculating the BOV’s |

Pulled the engine bay apart and emptied the catch cans to redo the setup with some better fittings and line.
Put the OEM chargepipe and diverter valves back on - still had to route my own intake lines for the return since I don’t have inlets on the m5 turbo Trying to go back to stock as possible to pass inspection here in CA can’t get the fuel system ready... likely going to just sell this soon tired of fixing it S63 engine is so awesome I want to make a project with it the sounds it makes are amazing... would be absolutely mental with a lot less weight and more power |

Those intakes look really nice. Anything special to fit those. With the sock airbox gone you can see a ton more, what a difference. |

In about 3 months I'll take a pic of the amount of the amount of oil they collect - I just emptied it last week and it had an impressive amount.
The crankcase ventilation system dumps a lot of oil blow-by into the intake system especially under boost and with the stock setup it almost all goes into the turbos, hopefully these will extend the life of the turbos since the original's started making noise at 70k miles and failed before 120k and always had oil in them. I have only found oil in my intake once and my cans were very full and it was only one side ... any catch can will work but I choose the radium cans because of how they are engineered The intakes are nothing special at all just basic tubing made to fit. This setup is something I thought about making into a kit with instructions for plug and play upgrades in various forms but haven't gotten around to it For instance we can plug our OEM turbos and run aftermarket BOV's with atmospheric blowoff to make the woooooooooosh sound .... its fucking awesome

How did you know when they failed ? The waste gate rattle and engine malfunction code similar to my issue ? I noticed that I can hear those wastegates rattling when I cold start my car.. Where are they stock oem catch cans ? I plan on adding short tam intakes just like you did here, specially because i like to see my motor rather then a piece of plastic cover when I pop the hood. My Turbo Smart BOV have been shipped and they are on the way. I can't wait to install them on my x5m. It's going to sound beast! I read that they are dual port BOV so they vent to atmosphere and back into the intake. Really interesting system since everyone complains about BOV affecting drivability, when in reality when the BOV vents to air is the ONLY time that it may affect air/fuel mixture, because when you get back on the throttle things go back to normal as far as mixture |

I eventually stopped boosting all together I also had some really bad wobble sound in the bank 1 turbo that I initially thought was the problem but nope
There is no OEM catchcan just a really poorly designed system Yes the venting to atmosphere affects the AFR at a very specific point, I logged a lot with my setups and never saw something that concerned me when I did this and I was fully venting to atmosphere never had a check engine light or engine malfunction Off topic but I put the OEM chargepipe back on with the OEM diverter valves and can’t believe how much it changed the exhaust note .... still trying to get my fuel system to pass emissions fuck |

Interesting. Would you ever consider running Turbo Smart setup ? I'm suppose to be getting mine today or tomorrow and I'm super excited to install them. I'll be sure to upload a video on them 👍 |

I’m going to buy a set and use them if I can get my emissions passing with the current setup I have right now with OEM diverter valves, I have a set of turbosmart BOVs I used and didn’t have any issues which I why I recommended them over the gofast bits

Hey frankenm did you get the S63TU exhaust manifold on with the S63TU turbos? Did you have to do anything else except those two? I saw the stock x5m manifolds and they look super restrictive...I probably will go this route as well.

Not difficult at all I’ve made quite a few posts about it and there is a dedicated thread for it as well Only thing that really matters is swapping the left and right o2 primary sensors |

Few more maintenance things getting done since a coolant hose blew.
Small y fitting under the turbos getting replaced with silicone hose and stainless steel metal Y fitting wrapped in heat some shield to protect it should last longer - it failed completely and broke in half at the plastic Y - blew coolant everywhere luckily I was test driving and not far. Alternator pulley and different filler neck Going to put my custom charge pipes back on with some catless downpipes ... these can vent to atmosphere so I plan to do a few videos of it should be pretty sick - the custom exhaust I have sounds really nice and I haven't heard it with catless pipes so I am really excited. Maybe an excuse to get a gopro finally ... |

Finally able to pull a decent log on the JB4 - this was on Map 2 at is 15 PSI Hits the target easily - still have stock cats in and running 91 so not really too exciting but runs fine at least Had a major failure with the cooling system so truck is down again while I wait to replace more - will be replacing radiator, water pump and overflow tank ... replacement over tank I purchased last year literally blew open luckily was still a block from house ( ding for using cheap parts ) Doing transmission service replacing solenoids and fluids Literally just fixing this to sell it at this point but really busy so haven't been on top of it. |

Whenever someone sends me an offer I can’t refuse, it is currently down and needs new bearings and the heads inspected
Will rebuild it once I have space but currently can’t do anything where I live so .... just stuck for now I’d sell it now if someone offered the right price but with engine work required - I don’t see it happening |

Quick Sound clip - X5M w/ TU turbos and custom exhaust
This clip is really short BUT really one of the only good ones I have with the setup.
This is with full atmospheric vent blow off valves, custom intake, chargepipes, exhaust and OEM S63TU turbos and turbo exhaust manifold - All with no CEL - Use headphones View post on imgur.com

Amazing build journal.
More info on the intake parts used would be great. Like the piping size for instance and connectors used. Thanks
