Black and White House Paint
The owners of a house near us painted their house black and white. At first I thought it was a bit bizarre, but I have to admit, it's growing on me. I'm beginning to like the way it looks. What say you?

Black and white seems to be pretty popular in my neighborhood recently. But more like white house paint, black trim. That picture looks more like 1/2 and 1/2, which I do find a little odd.

There's another house closer to us that's doing the white with black trim and black roof bit. But I noticed today they're painting their sunroom (which sticks out the back of the house) black. Not sure if that's the beginning of more black areas or not.

There's a new McMansion going up near us that is obviously following the modern farmhouse playbook. No siding yet, but I bet it's white with dark trim. They shingled the roof, but the roof-like extensions over the doors and windows are all metal and the window frames are all black.

Agreed. The second house I mentioned also painted their brick. Tough to go back.

There are a entire row of houses painted in this fashion in a neighbourhood that I sometimes drive through. It's striking and looks nice because of the uniformity

We are replacing our beige roof tiles with charcoal color (whenever the eventually arrive). We might go with the White House / black or gray trim look too. But just trim + doors + garage doors will be black or gray, not chunks of the house. Only hesitation is our paver driveway and patio are beige and not sure how the white / black or gray combo will go with those pavers.

That specific setup is too attention seeking for my tastes. There are so many amazing options they could have gone with… Having said that, maybe their enjoying all the stares their house is inevitably receiving . Black painted brick only looks good on modern style homes. This house looks like a cheap attempt at a classic style instead of a clean look.

I don't think it's been tastefully executed. There are different types of black. It also looks smoother on render or wood rather than brick or pebble. Limiting the proportions of black may have helped as would have a black roof tile. Probably hoped for a unique look and didn't quite get it but maybe trying to ride a trend. On a particular type of house and brick you could get away with it and it'd look classy. This doesn't look classy.

Don't do it. Out of style in less than 10 years. Consider house colors from the late 60s and early 70s.

No worries. I have no intention of going B&W. We're going from the dark brown that our house was when we bought it to a light brown siding. Our casement window frames are dark brown, so we may stick with that to offset the light brown siding.

Yeah... no....
There is one house in our community that went white and black, but as other have mentioned it's black roof, trim and doors and white walls. Not a huge fan, but I don't completely hate it either. The one pictured is too much black for me. |

a little of subject, I'm not exactly 100% on the locations but it seems in the Netherlands and U.K. they do these really impressive front door with nice colors.
Went with Fine Paints of Europe https://finepaintsofeurope.com/gallery/. on my house before moving into a condo. And had like a 10 step process to get a smooth flawless surface. |

It sold a year ago for $350k. Here's a pic before they went B&W.

And to answer an earlier question, yeah, they painted the bricks black and the stone white.
