Two options for warranty? Help Please
I need some opinion soon as possible.
I have a contract with Royal's Shield warranty to sing or cancel. Second option: I called my Bank and they offer Cuna Mutual Warranty for members only ( seems Legit as my bank is Federal. " Suncoast Credit Union") I called DCU for Route 66 and they don't offer anything if the aren't the loaner. So it is out of the question. 1: Royal's Shield Warranty 2: Cuna Mutual Warranty

Example: The contract I have with Royals Shield is Premium 4years/48k miles for $3345 and $0 deductible For Cuna Mutual warranty that my bank is offering just for members is on the pictures too. Like for Platinum 5years\100k miles for $2158 and 100 deductible Fidelity from BMW is the last one. For platinum 1year/12k miles $3140 and $250 deductible. See fidelity is expensive for less time coverage.

You can also try PenFed. In the thread on Route66 from bimmerfest that I pointed to earlier, one member confirmed that PenFed does not require an auto loan to buy the warranty. Caution: PenFed will likely claim that BMW X-models are excluded. That is wrong. You have to engage Route66 and get a policy from PenFed - read the Route66 thread; many forum members have shared their experience). Last edited by bmwx5er; 08-06-2015 at 03:34 PM.. |

The 5yr/100K Platinum from CUNA looks good on paper. Do your research on how their claims experience is before you pull the trigger. I'm comfortable with Route66 because there are numerous documented cases where the claims were paid without hassle (some in the thread I posted, and many in the 3 and 5 series forums at bimmerfest).

You can get Rt. 66 through DCU but you have to be a member. They don't need to be the loaner. I got a quote from them and was going to get it but it was too late before I traded the car in.

Do you think an extended warranty is worth it in general? I have a 2013 X5 50 with 36K miles and warranty up in May 2016. Quoted $4341 for 72mo/70K PL and $2295 for MP extension for 24 mos. Dealer said likely to need brakes in next 24 mos which would pay for MP extension all by itself. Planning to keep for maybe 3 years tops.
