Now that the 2014 X5 has been revealed [official thread], testing of the M version continues. We have added the latest spy photos added below.

Testing on the F15 X5 M began last year [first sighting], but current mules have now dropped much camouflage. What's revealed are the expected signature M components - huge front air intakes, aggressive sideskirts and rear diffuser, blue M brakes, and cross drilled rotors (the first for any X5 model). We also get a better look at the quad exhaust pipes which, unlike the current X5 M, feature a new angled design (like we've seen on the F82 M4 prototypes).

Like the standard F15 X5, next X5 M should also weigh less than the current X5 M. As for the next X5 M's powertrain, expect it to be powered by the S63Tu from the new M5/M6 (current X5 M uses the S63 engine), but potentially with a power bump up to the 580HP ballpark. Read about the differences between the current X5 M's S63 engine and the S63Tu engine.

As the F15 X5 hits dealers imminently, we should see the X5 M model within a years time.

We've already spied the X5 M on video previously, screaming around the Nurburgring. Be sure to check out the video as well as the latest photos.

Anyway, an year after the normal X5? I really hope before... it's a lot of time that they're testing it..

Note to BMW: please reconsider full front and rear fixed piston calipers as standard equipment in M cars.

This crap of sliding calipers in the rear is simply cheap and out of character in these cars. Especially in carbon brakes. That's beyond absurd.

Thanks.

I agree, fixed piston should be the standard but keep in mind the new $200k+ Bentley GT speed has the same sliding rear setup.

It's no excuse, just something to think about.

looks like it has the same design elements as the revealed X5 M50d, can see that the lower grill vents are split in the middle.

Can't wait to see this for sure!

I must say, the new X5 really looks good in the "flesh" (much better then in the photos) . BMW had three on display at the FIZ lobby recently.

Completely agree. Sliding calipers are pathetic and don't belong on any M car. My new M6 with a $130k sticker has single piston sliding calipers? Are you kidding me BMW??

Nice, that guy was cooking it in those corners! Sounds like it is a bit more throaty at idle (last part of video entering premises) than current X5M - anyone else noticed or caught that?

The front bumper is too similar to the M50D, isn't it?

I hope there will be a change in the definitive version... more aggressive

Loud sound!!!

Did you notice (@ 0:54) that it's ''playing'' with a new Cayenne Turbo S? Is Bmw trying to beat that beast?
