Navigation Full screen mode for 2009 X5
Am I missing something, or is there no way to change the navigation screen from split screen to full screen? The closest option/setting that I can find is "turn assist window off". When I do that, the right side of the screen just goes blank.

I think clicking the "Options" button gives you the screen to de-select split-screen.

Thanks for your reply, but there is no option to deselect split screen. I've tried everything in the option menu. Maybe that's just the way the 2009 navigation system works.

Can't do the full-screen NAV with the 09 system unless it is the "new" software - my 07 is also on the old idrive and I can't "unsplit" the screen either.

Thanks for letting me know. I also just installed the new 2012 DVD navigation maps, but nothing changed. I guess that's just the way it is.

When the NAV screen is up, slide the I drive knob to the right. Don't turn it, but rather slide to the right like a joystick. You'll have a list options on the right to select split or full screen.

It has to do with whether the OP has the new nav (CIC?) or the original iDrive nav software (CCC?). The maps disc (2007-2012) only updates the navigation mapping to include new roads and exclude closed ones each year. Minor adjustments. It will not make your old iDrive able to do the "full screen" like the new iDrive does. You can (with the old iDrive) do split screen, just not full screen.

I hear ya.
Wondered the same thing as I get used to iDrive in my "new" CPO 2009 X5. How useless is the map perspective in the side window - it changes the view in both maps. Dumb.
Side gripe: Why dont they include updated maps in a CPO? A simple update for them and another feature to sell the car. I mean they probably pay more to replace the wipers than they would to pop in a new DVD! |
