New to Group/Waiting for Car

Hi Everyone...

My wife and I ordered on 6/22 an 2011 X5 3.5D (Space Grey, Oyster interior). We also got the sports, premium and cold weather packages amoungst a few other things. The website says it's at the prep center, whatever that means. Our rep says we should have delivery next week. It's my wife's car and she's trading in a 2007 Yukon. What a piece of..... She can't wait. We do tow some toys, sleds, boats, etc. and were told the diesel will do the trick.

We'll put up pictures when we get it.

The X5d will be great for towing some light toys. Be careful the first few times you take it out - you're going from a true truck in the Yukon, with a solid rear axle, to essentially a tall car.

The X5 does not have a solid rear axle, which is the holy grail of towing. The engine in the X5d is plenty powerful (makes as much torque as my gasser truck), but the suspension will be a little different than what you may be used to. It will be most noticeable at highway speeds, especially in the wind, and quick (emergency) manuvering. Pay attention to your tongue weights, moreso than you needed to with the Yukon. All that said, enjoy! I can't wait for my X5d to arrive.

congrats sdpike, i was going to order space/oyster but we went with alpine white/oyster (see my sig for details). wow you ordered late June and you still don't have it? i ordered mine 7/23 and i expect mine next week. regardless, good luck!

Thanks for the advice. I expect it will drive/tow different than the Yukon. All I'll tow is a 2 place sled trailer and hope that will be okay.

We're told to expect delivery this week.
