Help required on Dash Warning Light
Hello fellow XBimmers! I have a 2002 X5 4.4i with a strange warning light (yellow) which resembles two cars one in front of the other. My problem is that the symbol which is located to the left of the DSC indicator light, is not represented in the car owners manual? Would anyone have any ideas as to what it represents? It is not a self leveling warning light because that flashes up in the "display for Check Control Screen", and I have had that problem already (turned out to be a loose relay in the rear panel) I have absolutely no idea what this light is about, it looks like a traffic jam symbol. PS Im in Australia and sometimes small things are changed for what ever import rules are in place at the time. Thanks in advance Grev

Here is a photo of the light, as above the manual doesn't say what this is.

The symbol is for the "Automatic Cruise Control" option offered in Europe.
It is also on other European models. The reason you are seeing it is a software glitch. The most recent posts that talk about it randomly appearing on the dash seem to be caused by resetting the oil light or trip meter, and causing an error that way, somehow. You can ignore, fiddle with buttons to reset, disconnect battery, go to the dealer. up to you.

To Chuck92103, thank you for the information on the yellow light issue.
I ended up doing what you said by disconnecting the battery for about 1min and the problem corrected itself. Hope that this info helps anyone else out there with same problem. Cheers Grev ![]() |
