Project Completed.....

Finally got everything done. It took 2 months but well worth it. The lights all match really well. The only thing left for me to do is get the BMW performance upgrade this summer.
Enjoy the pics.

Nice ride, I have to say you did a really good job! The wheels look cool and match with the car, could you tell me details of it "Forgiato wheels"? What size rim and tyres, offset, spacers, price?

Cheers!

nicely done, I've been on the fence about what my next bmw lease will be at the end of this year, but after seeing yours i think I'm getting an x6. Can I ask what you did for the lighting? bulb swap? hid kits?

What is the total bill for all the mods? Whatever it was, you now have a very unique and impressive looking ride.

I always like the look of rims with deep centers. The brushed aluminum would be my choice also, but I wonder what the brake dust will do to it over time. Is it clear-coated?

Large rims also beg for the proper sized brake rotors and calipers. Otherwise the rotors look small. These rims would show off brake rotors and calipers, but that would be another expensive upgrade.

The first thing I did was the paintwork. All of the black trim was removed, sanded down to be smooth, and painted. Sanding the trim down doubled the price from what would have been $1000 to over $2000. Even the mirrors were color matched. Everything being smooth really makes a difference in the finished product. The roof spoiler is Hamaan and the eyelids are Lumma. The rear spoiler I actually had somebody make for me.

The wheels are made by Asanti, but the company is called Modular Society. It is a Malice 5 wheel with Pirelli tires. They are 22x10.5 with 295/30/22 and 22x12 with 335/25/22 Pirelli tires. The paint on the spokes are perfectly colored matched. The lowering kit is H+R 2" drop for self leveling suspension. The wheels have clear coat on them which makes them easy to clean. Not sure what the offset is, but these rims will only fit this car.

I will say that the brake upgrade has crossed my mind, but the rotors don't look that small to where it bothers me. I had an Escalade with 26's and the rotors looked like they were from a smart car.

The halo's are Weisslicht white bulbs, and the fog lights are PIAA silver star 5100K.

Thanks for the comments...

One thing to keep in mind when selecting replacement tires for our HEAVY vehicle is the Maximum Load per tire. For the 20" tires on the M, the front and rear maximum load per tires are 2094 lbs. and 2337 lbs. I also read at Michelin that tires may be derated by the manufacturer when they are mounted on heavy SUV vehicles. See below:

* Passenger sizes used in Light Truck/SUV applications have reduced load capacity. This will differ from the maximum load branded on the tire sidewall.

The link below will take you to the TireRack web site with the full specifications for the factory supplied 20 and 21 inch tires:

http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....0&autoModel=X6 M&autoModClar=&tab=Specs

As hard as these cars can corner at high speeds, you do not want to risk a problem with tires that are not up to the capacity of the vehicle. Please read all the information before purchasing and mounting tires.

How do you remove the plastic tabs that holds the trim to the chasis without breaking them? or Did you have to break them and get new ones? I broke couple of them when I install my running boards and have to replace new ones which is different but works the same.

How much for the wheels and tires? Was there any error codes after changing to those?

These tires are for light trucks and Suv's. The X6 is in the middle weight range for suv's. I wouldn't have spent over $7000 on rims and tires that belong on a Hyundai. The rim shop I work with are very knowledgeable and would not make a mistake like that. Thanks for your concern.

The tabs will break and need to be replaced on most of the trim. The wheels and tires with sensors were $7200. I have not seen any error codes yet. Thanks

That's great information. Yeah, I was glad to see that your tires have the proper load rating, and are much less money because they are not RunFlat tires, I guess.

I have been pushing my car hard through the canyons on the weekends, so I expect to be going through tires on a regular basis. At this point the selection for tires with the proper specifications is rather limited, and can be expensive for all the more miles that you can drive with them.

I actually like the M wheels so I guess this confirms that I can just plan on spending tons of money on the rubber, with no rims in my future. Your 335's on the rear is really tempting though! I am debating a rear lip spoiler as I think the M should have come with one. I can't decide if the spoiler should be natural carbon fiber, or painted to match.

My car has literally been stopping traffic as people slow down to shadow me to get a better look, I can only imagine what is happening to you with how yours looks! One of the nice things about white, is that it stands out at night also. My favorite White is a Pearl White, with just a hint of very fine metal flake. When that is done right, it can really catch my eye.

Hi. I see that you are in Maryland, I am too. Where did you go to lower your car? Did you buy the springs yourself or did the shop do everything for you? Also, how much did it cost you to install it? I love your car, you really a great job on it. congrats!

Thanks.

Very nice..I like it..
What are those plate no bulbs ? Are the r-dash?

One advice...I think it will look nice if you change the kidney grill to the pure black one...it will give it more sporty aggresive look

Overall...well done

I went to No Limit in Baltimore. They ordered and installed everything. The H&R 2" kit was around $600-$700 installed. I see you have the front of your car painted very similar to mine, can you post pics. Where are you in Maryland? Thanks

The license plate light replacements I got on ebay. You just pop out the factory light and put these in, no error codes.

I like that the grill matches the wheels and running boards. If I can ever find a brushed aluminum grill I will definately change it out. Thanks

I'm in Pikesville. I'm waiting for my rims I'll post some pix after I put the rims on.

How long did it take for the H&R kit to arrive? How long did it take them to install it...( a few days or a couple of hours)?

Thanks.

They got the kit in a few days. I dropped it off in the morning and they had it done by 5:00. What wheel and tire setup are you going with?
