X6M and X6 5.0 Same Mileage

I was comparing the two vehicles bmwusa. Despite the big displacement in Horsepower, the mileage is the same? I don't get it. Did anyone else notice this?
Yes there's a big price tag difference but if I had the extra 18k or so haha, I'd go for the X6M if the mileage is the same on sheer gas savings comparison.

Now that's a good justification if I ever heard one, and I totally agree - it's a bargain based on the gas millage alone.

However, I have a feeling my wife might see it otherwise. Somehow, the words "Yeah, right, honey, go ahead." come to mind.

Who knows, but I'd give it a shot, bc it might work on your wife.

The gas mileage is the same because the displacement of the engines are the same. The X6M just has higher boost so if you drive both vehicles 60MPH the gas mileage should be very similar but if you are a spirited driver like me, then I can almost guarantee you that the gas mileage will be worse regardless of of what the sticker says.

On my X6 50i the best I usually get with some combined HWY driving with 13.5-14mpg. usually around 12.5 when I drive a little more spirited and I am guessing if I had the X6M and drove the way I do now it would probably be 1-2mpg lower

Took my first extended road trip yesterday. About 160 miles, round trip, and got 16.2 MPG. In town I am averaging 14.1 MPG.

How hard did you drive it. Did you set cruse control for 60 MPH the whole time?

Agree,
this plays a big roll in the gas mileage, if it's on cruise control the whole time then you will get decent gas mileage. I drive my X6 spirited (it's why I buy BMWs) so I know I'm not consistent. A long open stretch or some nice curves and it's petal to the metal.

LOL. Hell no. I ran her pretty hard but found that even when cruise is set at 80, it still gets pretty good gas mileage...

This is why BMW, Audi, Ford, GM, and others are shifting to boosted engines. They can be tuned to produce better EPA numbers...and better real-world numbers if you keep your foot out of the gas.

Actually

On my X5 48, I averaged 13.4. On my X6M I am averaging 14.5, and I drive it a hell of a lot faster.

Very good vehicle
