I recently purchased a 2008 X5 and every time i put it in reverse i just get a green screen, i'm thinking its the camera but thought id see if anyone else has had this problem before spending a few hundred on another camera.

Mine sometimes turns purple or glitches after driving for a while or if the car was in a hot environment. Have tried looking for a solution and haven't found any real ones. I'd suggest posting a video or picture on the forums.

You can test the video input on your CCC using anything with a composite video output. I use my dash cam which can output both pal and ntsc. Pull the CCC out and look for the shielded wiring going to pins 2 or 3 pins of 17-28. That is the video feed wire from the camera in back. You can remove the sub connector for 17-28 without removing the rest of the plug.
If the dash cam test is successful, you can get an aftermarket camera that is better quality than the one you have now. Especially at night. The downside is you will loose the dynamic parking lines. https://www.ebay.com/itm/281474833928 Leave the old camera in place or your may get errors. Ensure the CCC passes the dash cam test as there is not much info on adding an aftermarket camera to a CCC. Lots of people have done with CIC in the E90s. |
