different tread pattern on new tires
Hi guys as some might now I've been thru rough patch lately with my car, I'm still monitoring my car's idle etc., its been good so far after one week and roughly 600 miles, as I also mentioned I had some issue with one of my tires (Toyo Proxies) it died on me on 4th season.
Making some mistakes lately and paying for it I left myself with budget around $500 to get new all season tires (I was looking for used as well but couldn't find anything in the sizes and condition I need), (driving on summer set at the moment and fearing the snow any day). Known and good brands were unreachable to me, price wise, cheapest I found was set of New Toyo Proxies All Season tires 2x275/40/R20, 2x315/35/R20 for $850. So I finally found Lexanis, I know they not as great but they should do I hope. I payed $198.98 for 2 106W Lexani LX-TWENTY 275/40R20 $278.98 for 2 110W Lexani LX-THIRTY 315/35R20 the total is $477.96 right in my budget. The question I have after taking closer look at tread pattern I see that 275 pattern is different from 315 pattern (pictures attached) 275/40R20 315/35R20 I know this is not ideal but what do you think? I will have same pattern on the same axle and thread depth also should be the same, so I don't expect issues with transfer case etc., Please let me know! also I'm thinking to Plasti Dip my 20" 310M replica wheels either mat black or gloss black, do you think I should remove old tires and Plasti Dip or put new tires and Plasti Dip later? (I'm afraid the Dip will be damaged when putting new wheels on) I've done some Plasti Dip in the past but its been a while and not on the wheels, I watched few youTube videos as well but if anybody has any suggestions I will def. appreciate it! Thank you very much as always!

I am running Lexani LX-THIRTY, 275 on front axle and Achilles Desert Hawk 315 on the rear axle. Both have similar treads like yours. I have not encountered any problems.
Go ahead . I payed less then $450 for all four !! Last edited by X5 MAN; 01-28-2019 at 05:08 PM.. |

They are high Gloss. Unlikely to be powder coated. Don't know
Here's the link where I bought them https://www.ebay.com/itm/BMW-X5-M-St...72.m2749.l2649 |

I was quoted by local shop $550 to powder coat 20" wheels, that's without tires + $80 if I want tires mounted and balanced, I guess its alright price but I'm still leaning towards Plasti Dip, after all my wheels are pretty old. now I need to decide, mat or gloss

Is it a wet system like Pirelli used to have? Front clears the water for the rear? Spitballing...

I don't think so, bought them separately but from the same seller 2x2, they just happen to have different treads

Oh, sorry, I'm off...was thinking same tire models. Don't see an issue, not ideal.

so this morning I was looking at the ordered tires again and saw that my front Lexanis are
LX-TWENTY model and my rear LX-THIRTY model that's why the tread are different. I found LX-THIRTY model for the fronts as well, from the same seller and even few bucks cheaper. Based on UPS, label has been created but tires were not picked up yet. I contacted the seller to see if they can swap 275 tires for me so I can have same tread! Let's see, they are in CA and 3 hours behind us, hopefully they can still do that for me!

They opening in 40 min, I will also give them a call, they are on West coast and 3 hours behind us on East coast! If they can't do that I might need to order another set of fronts and somehow return other fronts free of charge! I'll update this thread as soon as I have more news!

I know someone running these tires on their 4.8is, he swears by them -- i think only like $100 a tire:

so as for my story, just got off the phone, luckily the tires hasn't been shipped out yet! but sure enough nothing as simple, they do have all the tires I want, need to wait for them to cancel my current order and place new one with correct models! should be $3 cheaper too hopefully I can figure it out by the end of today!

So I should have matching tread on tires, one less thing to worry about! I see you in PA and running same front tires LX-THIRTY, how was your experience in the snow? Thank you!

Boneca,
Did you get the tires in and what do you think so far? I just ordered a new set of wheels/tires and got the lexanis because I just dumped $1200 on a set of tires for the wifes car which is our long distance hauler... So, what do you think? Decent? I read some reviews before giving the green light and they did not seem to fair too badly. I am hoping they last me a few seasons.
