They are more reliable than the N63 variants, however, you want to ensure the injectors have been updated to index 11 or 12 and new plugs. It all depends on the prior owner. I bought mine from a doctor that was expeditious with maintenance, and it has been very reliable. More so than my 4.4 and 4.8is, and both of them were not bad at all. I try to avoid 3 or more owner vehicles.
Regarding the one you linked, dealer cars are tough as you do not know where they bought it from. Generally a higher mileage vehicle on trade-in would go to auction and a small outfit will buy it. Definitely run a Carfax on it, or have them send you one. Then perform an inspection for leaks, which injectors (I used a phone next to the drivers side bank to get the part number), and other items. Rotors are $$ on this vehicle, check those brakes, and all other regular maintenance items. Pull codes or anything pending. Give it a good test drive, get it nice and hot. I recommend a 30 minute test drive at the minimum. Many dealers are shady and use stop leak, thicker oil, etc to mask issues. Last edited by pearlpower; 10-17-2018 at 11:49 AM.. |
