!!!!! Updated with finished pics on page two. !!!!
Well finally got the BMW F15 X5 LED fog lamps installed in my e70 facia before it gets painted. So far very happy with the look, plus it's an OEM part so no crappy quality Chinese parts to worry about. Will post back when all done. |

Used some structural adhesive to bond it to the back side. Planing to design some up and having them 3D printed in ABS. So the end result will look more robust, but as of right now they work great! |

very nice, ijdmtoy has real LED fogs but for Pre-LCI models... really sucks but I'm thinking are pre Lci and Lci fogs that much of a difference?

I contemplated the same part but after looking at the stock pre LCI housing I found they would not work. The F15 style led fogs have a very similar location so they plug right in. I was shocked to see how the bezel literally was the same shape as the e70 opening. All in all they look like they belong their. The tough part was making sure when fitting them that they where perfectly aligned. But it's doable. The difference is the OEM one is pure white the aftermarket one here is slightly purplish blue. They show white but their not. At least the ones I've seen. Their better than most but I really wanted OEM as their brighter and with the heat sink behind it which is massive you can tell you have a well engineered part. Plus rather not put cheap aftermarket parts on The vehicle just doesn't seem right. ![]() |

i just went thru this headache with LED H11, they look cool but serve NO purpose when it comes to effectiveness... plus even with cancellers i got R&L FogLight Malfunctions... i went with KENSUN hids AFTER giving INNOVITED hids a chance, both from amazon.
Innovited kits don't like X5's for some reason, massive flickering that looked like actual strobe lights & they sent the wrong bulbs 1st try around. KENSUN Kits work 100%, no strobe light effect at all.. FYI - what ever you decide, just make sure you tape up all your connects, carwash water blew out my HID ballast. KENSUN sent me a new one ASAP |

I would DEF buy a set. I just spend over 100 on different kits just to end up with hids because we have no efff'in aftermarket.

I can make some aluminum parts now as I have the pattern but again it takes lots of pre fitting, please give me some time to design and vet out the 3D printed ones. After doing this I found out ways to make it better. I'm a new dad so time is constrained so it won't be next week but I'll let you know when it's done. ![]() |

Now I'm not sure if this will be for everyone as their is lots of trimming and modifying of the bumper and left and right fender assemblies, theirs structure on the fenders that need to be trimmed and the mounts on the bumper need to be worked as well. It's not a simple "let's stick on a new mount and they will bolt right up" sort of mod. The adjustment feature on the OEM fog lamps needs to be removed and a set screw installed to allow adjustment of the fog lamps, if the OEM adjustment is not removed the fog lamp is to high and the bumper will not be able to be installed. The adjustment screw is fine however as all you need to do is lighten the pressure adjust the beam and then tighten the screw and the light won't move. This can be done on vehicle just have to remove the left and right grill openings which you can do with your finger. But in the end it's a possible mod and works great. The left and right fade on and off when steering the wheels work like a charm and everything works like factory. The only issue is a slight flashing of the led fogs at startup because of the signal the x5 gives for the bulb check feature but that's a simple fix with a resistor wire that can be purchased. Otherwise very happy. |
