Just finished installing the LED's and they look awesome! Thanks again for these James!

I used the trim removal kit from harbor freight and it was perfect for the job. All LED's went in without any issues except for the rear dome/reading lights. Removing it was a royal pain in the a$$! At one point I just felt like ripping the whole thing out, but thanks to James, his tip to slide the whole thing out with the metal housing proved priceless!

To re-install the rear dome light, first place the metal bracket back into the headliner, secure it by slightly bending the metal tabs, plug in the connector, and then slide/click the rear dome light into place. This should save a lot of frustration trying to put the whole thing back in one piece.

One other tip -please be very careful when putting the glove box light back in. I happened to touch the metal clip with the surrounding edge while sliding it in and it let out a spark. Now the glovebox doesn't work and I think I'll have to replace the fuse.

Yes be very careful with the glove box so you don't blow the glove box fuse ( like I did) because the fuse box in in a Stupid place under the dash on the passenger side and you need to remove the big plastic cover to get to it.

Thank you once again for the effort, I have everything installed except for the rear dome lights, does anyone care to elaborate a little more for this intricate install? Thanks, Eddie.

FYI, there are 3 buyers that have still not paid (StayRight, ajohnson300, and X5MSD).

Any kits that are not paid for by the end of this week will be made available to others.

Thanks James.

All installed.

The rear dome lights were a real pain.

The best way I can describe the install is like an aftermarket car stereo head unit. There is a cage holding the lighting unit to the headliner.

Easiest way to change out the bulbs is to bend the tabs of the cage so the cage and lighting unit will remove from the headliner.

When reinstalling, just bend the cage out so the tabs hold the headliner and clip in the lighting unit.

The second dome light took me 2 minutes once I figured it out!

Just finished installing and all I can say is WOW. They make the interior look so much cleaner looking!

One thing... I started driving to dinner and I felt like something was different, but I couldn't put my finger on it at first. Then I realized, the front and rear floor lights don't stay on while driving at night now! Is this a coding issue or do I just have to live with this compromise now? Is everyone experiencing this? This is kind of a big deal driving at night in complete darkness inside. I'm surprised it hasn't been brought up yet, at least from all that I've read.

Hmm, I don't think my floor lights ever came on, at least not without having a door open.

The one light that does stay on at night is the small orange light near the front dome light, which lights up the gear shift area.

I'm probably going to change them back tomorrow just to put my mind at ease that there really isn't any other light that should be on when the headlights are on or when it's night time. It just seems really dark inside now driving around.

For anyone that hasn't installed their lights yet, can you check this out? I'm only thinking they would come on when it's dark.

I'm almost certain the footwell lights are supposed to be off when the doors are closed, but you may try adjusting the dimmer switch to make sure the other lights are on at their full brightness.

I my stock lighted X5M, there is a single amber light in both the passenger and driver's footwell. There is no dash bulb in the shifter area. I think you may be referring to the amber ring around the 12v outlet in the cupholder area that casts a lot of light. close the cover over the cupholders and see.

Hmm, I had never noticed these before, but I checked on my way into work today and they are in fact there (and working). The lights are actually an LED strip under the armrest on the door. Pretty cool.

The shifter area light I was referring to is actually up above in the dome light area. A pair of small amber lights that shine downwards.

The dimmer switch seems to control all of these, as well as the gauge illumination.

Installed LED kit today, looks great! Install was easy for most parts, little trouble with one of rear dome lights (with the second one first one gave me no trouble). One issue with glove box, I'm keep blowing the fuse and not sure what to do. I already replaced fuse ones and was able to open glove box, I closed it and next time I tried to open it again I believe the fuse got blown again. I haven't seen the led light up in there either. I also installed Hellst XRT kit today, tried to combine both in one picture

You are 100% correct! Never noticed the ambers in the overhead!

There is a metal ring around the hole where the glove box light housing attaches to, and it's actually very easy to blow a fuse when installing this. I ended up blowing 2 fuses here myself.

I'd try removing the glove box light and check to make sure the bulb is secure and that nothing is touching the metal ring.
