Sorry, I only have one set of package B left.

These will work on any X5 (including the X5M) as long as you don't already have the LED headlights.

JZBM3 -- Do you have any guides for installing the rear tail lamp lights and license plate lights? I pulled the housings out for the license plate lights and can't figure out how I'm supposed to get inside of it without breaking anything. I also can't figure out how to access the bulbs for the tail lamps.

I don't have a link to a guide for either of those, but they are relatively straightforward.

For the taillights, once you remove the interior panel (it should pop right off) you will see the back of the taillight. There is a black piece of plastic that the wires connect to, that runs up the entire length of the light. This is what you are taking off. To remove it, look for the tabs near the middle and press (down I think) to release the entire piece. Once it pops off, you'll have access to the turn signal, brake and reverse bulbs.

For the license plate bulbs, the housings are spring loaded. Use a flathead screwdriver in the small slot and slide the housing over gently until it releases. Once you have it out, the metal guard on the top of the housing needs to be removed. It's a little tricky to do, so go slow - but once that's off you'll have access to the bulb.

Hope this helps.

if you has the metal heat shield you have to remove that first.
remove the bulb, replace it with a new one you don't have to put back the shield....

The bulbs will only fit in the socket where they are intended to go, so you really can't install them wrong, but here's an overview of where things go.
  • PY24W (bulb with black plastic base) - front turn signals
  • 1156 (silver cylindrical bulb) - rear turn signals and brake lights
  • T10 (smaller bulb, with slim white wedge base) - reverse bulbs

Do You recommend taking the entire black housing out of the trunk lid for the license plate bulbs?

Yeah, you really need to pull them all the way out, as that's the only way to get at the bulbs.

Keep in mind you're just using the slot to slide the housing to the right...you're not prying on the sides at all.

Here's a video that should help.

Just received package C and D. Install took all of 5 minutes and they work great; no errors and a very crisp light with immediate on and off action. What surprised me the most was how high quality the bulbs were. Truly a great product here.

Thanks again for everything!

So how exactly does the bulb come out after I get the housing out of the trunk lid?

I'm loving the brake and reverse lights, top-notch quality JZBM3!

Since unbeknownst to me there's different versions of license plate lights from the factory, I have a brand new unopened set for anyone that missed the boat. Shoot me a PM and we can work something out!

Ok - so what's the secret to getting the front turn signals back in? Got one out, mounted the new one on the cover went to try and screw it in and cover came off and light is being held in socket somehow. Won't come out and won't light up either, can't get the cover to latch back on to the bulb to take it back out. Can't get cover to stay in the socket. Can barely get my hands in there at all. I'm actually pretty handy when I can see what I am doing but working blind with my arm contorted is pissing me off!
