Dinan Update
Dinan says they will introduce an exhaust for the X6 50i next week. It is supposed to sound incredible. The engine software upgrade is now complete and is in final testing. Should be available for purchase by mid May.

Probably around $2500-3000 if I had to guess. When I say Steve Dinan at an event at my dealer a few months ago he told me it would most likely be a little more expensive than the 335i tune because the engine is more complex.
Hopefully with the current economic crisis we are in they will keep the price reasonable so they do not price themselves out of the market. I may wait for the full big-turbo upgrade from them which they will eventually do which will probably give you the same output, if not more than the M version will have. |

The orignial post is only a little true. I am the brave soul who volunteered my X6 to Dinan in Morgan Hill, and have been without it for 12 weeks now and counting. The exhaust is close to completion, the software isn't. They are having problems mapping the computer, so I don't know where they got mid May, but that ain't happening. I just got pics of the prototype exhaust, and it looks great and it supposedly sounds awesome...I'll be getting mine with black ceramic tips! Their is no question that after all the performance upgrades and cosmetic features Dinan is offering me, I'll blow the X6M outta the water with style and HP

pretty much. Everyone has been very gracious, and have given me the choice to pick up my car now, and once they have completed the whole package of X6 offerings, bring it back for the free upgrades. I figure I have waited this long, what's a couple more months (At the worst). As the engineers have told me, I will have the advantage of having each of their talented personell working on it, personally excrutiating each detail and "Treating it like their baby", to use their words. They just picked up the new 750i last weekend, which has a similar computer and engine offering, so I was told that should speed things up.

Dinan suspension mods
Would be interested about how/if Dinan improved the suspension/handling over the stock as x6 5.0i seem to understeer more than Cayenne GTS in comparos.
And now X6 & X5Ms are going to have more rear wheel bias in their x drive ..... |

Did you notice that they took the vacuum valves off the 2nd exhaust pipe on each muffler?

I like the 'L' and 'R' (Left and Right) markings on the Dinan exhaust
I wonder if that's going to be on the production units too The question will be if you look from the front or the back of the car when you install them ... hehehe

I'm thinking he added the "H" crossover pipe between the mufflers to hold them together using the stock mounts, rather a real performance boost. Normally you want the "H' pipe closer to the engine to get a slight flow balancing and scavenging.
BMW probably had the vacuum valves for better sound at lower RPM, right? |

thanks, yes I live off the Strand and loving my new hobby of stand up paddle surfing. Having a 12 foot board that's 4" thick with a paddle to carry, it helps living steps away from the sand. the vacuum valves were taken off so they can replace them with the classic copper Dinan tips that expand out from under the car when it gets hot after running for a little while. I requested the black cermic tip option to go with my color scheme. here's what they have put on for now, if you got to Dinan's website you can see what the black cermic option will looks like. but notice how much wider and bigger these tips look in comparison to what they have on other models! awesome! i'm hoping to get pics soon of the suspension and brake upgrades
