Fuel system not complete.... X5M

Soooo..... I’m trying to get my truck smogged in CA and having a major pain in the ass with the fuel system it won’t complete, all other emissions are passed except the fuel system.

I’ve driven a lot, today I took a 300 mile round trip drive and still not ready.

I monitor the fuel mixture and it is pretty stable around 14 as it should be and does not go +\- to much ... lowest I’ve seen is about 13.2 and highest is 15 when letting of the throttle because of the atmosphere blowoff, and it runs in closed loop.

I have about 60 cycles since last DTC reset without any codes.

NO DTC’s and have new o2 sensors for both up and down stream.

Anyone have issues getting their fuel system passing?

I know there is a recall on the pumps which makes me think that is the problem and BMW will not replace it unless it is actually throwing a CEL - fucks charged me 200$ already for no reason already other than to rob me when I was in for recall work

Before I start throwing money at this I want to know if anyone has had to have a DME update related to this that solved this?

I’m at a loss right now until I start throwing money at it.

I’ve had this issue before I even swapped over to the TU turbos so I don’t think it is caused by that

Going to have BMW replace my injectors under the recall even though I just put new ones in last year because why not get new injectors for free under the 16E-A01 recall - I doubt this will solve the issue unless they also update the DME - I know there is another recall 16E-A02 for some emission codes not working but that doesn’t apply to me .... hopefully they don’t fuck my engine up because of how much I‘be modified it

Do you have a tune? I couldn't pass emissions...kept getting "system not ready" messages but it was more related to CAT/O2 systems I believe. I flashed the ECU back to stock, drove it a bunch, and passed. Good luck.

Stock tuning - I have a JB4 but took it out a while ago when going I converted to the TU turbos and manifold to eliminate the variables and have kept it off until I get a passing smog.

Tried the BMW drive cycle etc .... really sucks fucking CA needs everything passing while other states get like one or two not ready.

NJ follows Cali in that aspect as well,

I'm surprised the system didn't check after the drive cycle.

I had this occur in a diff platform (not BMW or X5) turned out to be a bad evap canister (takes the fumes from the tank etc).

You can pass CA smog with one incomplete item, how are the remainder monitors?

Everything is passing except the fuel system.

CA allows for only the Evap system to be incomplete for 2000 and newer vehicles.

I have 3 different apps I check the status with an all report the same so I doubt it is the apps reporting wrong as well....

BMW won’t replace my injectors either since I’ve already have index 12’s
