Suspension
I have a new X5 that needs a tighter suspension. My 2002 Tahoe corners better than my new X5. The Sport mode doesn't effect the suspension like my M235 did. Will M shocks fit and will they help or any other suggestions that don't include trading for an X5M.

Did your X5 come with the active suspension and 20" wheels? I'm pretty certain the only difference between shocks on the E70 are based on if you have the 3.0 or 4.8/5.0 engine with or without active suspension. The active suspension is the same as the EDC found on the X5M. When BMW did the LCI refresh they stopped adding the active suspension with the sport package and it's a rare option on X5s with M sport. I've owned 2 E70 X5s and I can't imagine not having this option.

Hey Grayhair, in in the exact same boat. 2013 cpo with standard suspension equals horrible body role. I just ordered the eibach pro kit springs and koni fsd struts. I'll probably have them on in a week or so and let you know how it goes.

Depending on budget, you can go H&R lowering springs but I would go for the 1.2 drop. My opinion is that the 2.0 drop is too low for the rear air bags to function properly so the ride goes south quick. The ride with the 1.2 drop is firmer with less body roll but it still is not bad for daily driving. I had my race shop install mine so it went in easy and correct the first time. When you measure the links for the rear, they used a digital caliper so it was to the mm and when we put the X on the ground, it had the proper rake and perfect balance side to side.
Then after the springs settle, get a better alignment then the stock crap. I adjusted the alignment and made changes to the toe and rear camber and my trucks turn in is much better and it feels snappier then before. With the crap stock settings, the truck didn't want to turn and I would have needed tires in 7k miles.... Lol. |

Stock M shocks have EDC which are coded to the car. I doubt that would even be an option.
