My 2013 X6M - MCB / Mugello Red and PCD Delivery
Just got back from my awesome BMW Performance Center Delivery and "break in" road trip through the Great Smokey Mountains and The Tail of The Dragon
I posted a build thread when I made the order around the end of November, and on this Thursday I finally met my new baby for the first time. Starting this off with exterior and travel pics, then will take some interior shots later and post them here. I took the all important photo of the odometer as soon as I hit 1200 miles (break in complete!) earlier this morning. I freaking love this car! First time seeing her, in the special office/garage at BMW Performance Center outside of Greenville, South Carolina. When you pick up your car at PCD, you can drive over to the BMW Zentrum Museum and park on the sidewalk. I took advantage of the photo opportunity, even though it was raining. During our road trip, we hit every condition and type of road so that the X6M can be broken in like it was meant to - canyons, interstate, country roads, rain, snow, ice, and sun - we did it all. Love the LED headlights... And saving the best for last, some of my favorite shots so far: Well, it is an X6M ... So we got to see a LOT of gas stations on our trip Loving my new baby... More pics to follow! Time to go for a drive! Last edited by ddk632; 01-20-2013 at 02:18 PM.. Reason: Added one more photo to "favorite shots" that I forgot to include. |

Congrats! Beautiful color. Looking at your pictures there's one thing I didn't realize - I didn't know that the X6M comes with the new HUD display. I thought I read here on the board that the X6 wouldn't get the new HUD display until 2014. That makes for an even nicer package! Enjoy!

Thanks again guys!
@Biff Grissel - Yeah I thought it was the same HUD, too. The M mode on the HUD is nice though unless you're navigating through random small towns looking for a place to eat I'm hoping to get to some interior pics this weekend in a nice location. They're a bit tougher since I need to set up a tripod in my trunk (my British wife calls this a boot) and do some layer blending in photoshop to get the exposure correctly. |

Ok, and a few more exterior shots, too... I love running errands for my wife now, I never say no as long as it involves me having to drive somewhere! @ejholt - you won't regret it, this car and color combo is gorgeous and very special. Dealers don't usually stock blue cars with red interior, so anyone that sees your car will know you ordered to spec and got what you wanted. @bimmerlvr77 - yeah it was a trip to remember, for sure. If you live close to those mountains you are lucky my friend, it's beautiful up there and there's such an abundance of fun canyon roads, I don't think I'd ever get bored. Getting to work would be the hard part! (Until the bills come in, anyways ) |

No worries - they won't be the last. Planning on a tint and painted front reflectors in a few weeks when I have some time to take the car in. Will of course post more pics then.
Actually I am crazy about this car and refuse to even take it to a hand wash type of car wash (let alone automated). So I am ordering some tools (buckets with grit guards, foam gun, microfiber wash mitts, and leaf blower for drying the car) thanks to "The Two Bucket Wash Technique" YouTube videos by Junkman2000, and will be washing her myself weekly or at least every other week. After the first wash this weekend I want to do a proper photoshoot down here in South Florida somewhere. Just need to coordinate with my buddy who has some gear I don't have for a proper photoshoot. Thanks! I knew I would love it, but once I saw it in person, I had no idea until that moment how much I would love it. I can't see myself getting bored with this color combo or the red interior at all, it's just so nice to look at. Thanks man. I didn't know only the X6M got the hood, but they're both awesome machines either way, hood or no hood - we already have a big family hauler so I didn't much care about boot cargo space and wanted another X6 after missing my last one which was an X6 35i - the body shape and X6 in the name is about where the similarities end, though! |
