All new model X5 (F15) coming in October 2013

As I have developed interest to buy it (and sell my X6 by then), my dealer whom I find trustworthy told me that this was now officially confirmed by BMW HQ.

I was hoping it would be sooner. My lease is up in 2 weeks and I plan to extend for long as possible. I'll probably be forced to rent for a few months when the lease extention expires.

New X5 is suppose to be a 2014 model so coming out late 2013 sounds about right.

SOP is 8/13 for the new F15 X5 and EOP for E70 X5 is 7/13.

You guys really would buy one of the first ones? I toured the factory and figured that it has to take at least a year to get all the bugs worked out. There is SO much automation.

Even so, case in point, is the 2013 X6 with M sport package. The first ones off the line were missing a ton of features. They didn't get it sorted out for months. People smart enough to realize it had to have their exhausts cut off and new ones welded on. Door sills were missing, and God only knows if they got the HP bump.

If it were me (and yes, the new X5 is on my list), I would give it AT LEAST a year, if not two before you picked up one of these.

Just sayin...

Yes, done it over 20 times. Love getting the latest and greatest, even though many of the things you say are true.

Risk is there, I admit it, but am thinking about getting one as soon as it is out (with an M package), which will probably come out a bit later. The date I qouted is for Europe.

You have to read the spec sheet that comes with the car... Or look up the vin on BMW website to verify what you got. The first batch of F30 320i's that we got in Canada were missing heated seats and they cheekily called it "Launch Edition" models (with a free dealer third party retrofit if you ask)

So the question is... How much incentives do you think BMW will roll into the 2013 X5s?

How will you extend your lease? If you've financed with BMWFS, they will not extend your lease unless you have already placed an order for another BMW...

Sounds good to me. I have a 2010 X5d that will turn 4 in Nov 2013 and I will be wanting to trade for the new one around then. I too get the issue with new models, but I have had pretty good luck. Seems like at times there is some upgrade the very next year. This happened when I bought the 2008 M3, missed out on the new I Drive version.

I am on a similar situation. The lease on my 2010 3.5d expires in March. Wife does not want the same car for another three years, and my CA tells me I could get the lease extended, but I am not eager to get a first year production car. So, although not crazy with the idea, I am considering an Acura MDX which would save me some money for a couple years to then come back to the X5 (probably post LCI). Now if the incentives on the last E70 units are good story could be different...

Ayrton, getting the Acura for a few years then the new X5 sounds like a good plan. Since your lease expires in March, you will not be able to order the 2014 X5 because it is slated to start production in August. And without an order for another BMW in hand, BMWFS will not extend your lease.

Yep, plan seems reasonable and you are right about the lease extension, though I think my CA had some gaming the system in mind (on the lines of getting a production number for an E70 then switching it for a new X5 production number). He is doing his best to keep me with BMW, but If the wife likes the MDX after the test drive then the math will decide (that is between a new E70 and the MDX, as at this point I have discarded the new X5 on its first year of prduction). I would certainly miss the torque of my 3.5d, but in the end I still have the 1M to play around.

My lease on my 3.5D ends this week, and I spoke to BMW financial who mentioned a special release option for 12 months for current X5 owners. According to the representative, the payment stays the same and there are no costs.

I've ask my dealer to make this happen and I'm waiting for them to follow up.

Another option is use one of the lease trading sites and pick up a short term lease for that period of time. I've done it with BMW and it is very easy and there are some good deals tone had

Actually your able to extend your lease as long as you had excellent payment history the agent review my account and they decided to honor my request. I did that with my old 07 X5 and extended 90 days.

BMW X5 Brand Loyalty Release Program

Hey Guys:

Even my dealer couldn't find anything on this new program. It gives you the flexibilty to release your X5 for up to 12 months at the same payment. This is a perfect solution if anyone has a lease expiring and the maximum 6 month lease extention won't cover the wait for the new X5. If the new car get's here in less than 12 months, you can exit the lease early without any penalty.

The BMW Bullitin for this program is 12-N132
