When you have your headlights selected on automatic they turn on when the car is set in reverse. Also and anyone else correct me if i'm wrong, they are the corning lights which only function when lights are selected in auto.

Those inner bulbs, not the AE/DRL's, come on when you are making a turn or the car is in reverse. You can probably get them coded to come on all the time.

on the e92's they are the cornering lights.
They come on when you are in reverse and when you are using your turn signal at like 25mph and below. I have ziza yellow bulbs in mine and they bright as FUCK!

you probably don't have Xenons. All e92s like the OP's come standard with Xenons, and on the coupe they all work in the same manner.

All 4 lighting up... hm. I have a 2008 E91 w Xenon and the inner light is the DRL which I coded off in place of the AE (Canadian cars cannot "BC" them off, no such option). So before coding, the only time it would come on was as a DRL at 35% bright or whatever - off whenever the Xenon's turned on. After coding, it only ever comes on if I "flash" them (pull the stalk) - off at all other times. With Xenons, they would look awful with all 4 lights on, so for me (as they aren't cornering lights) they are essentially useless except for the "flash", and then really only during the day when the Xenon's aren't fired up because I can pseudo-flash those at night if needed.
So to answer your question OP... I'm afraid I have no idea how to get all 4 on at the same time, except maybe via coding but I haven't researched that, I wanted mine turned off. |

OP are you sure you saw all 4 on? There are many different features that can be set for those cornering lights. A lot of cars come with different settings from factory.
Is it possible you saw one side while they were signaling or had their wheel turned (some cars have their cornering lights function that way)? In order to change/unlock further setting you will have to code your car. Do you know anyone in your area that offers coding services? |

Drive backwards then all lights will be on. Just kidding. That would have to be a coding issue. When you have xenons, your DRL's would be the AE's. ThOse inner lights are for cornering and reverse.
