2012 Geneva: BMW X6 M50d World Premiere
BIMMERPOST NEWS 2012 Geneva: BMW X6 M50d World Premiere The 2012 Geneva Motorshow is now underway and making its world debut is the BMW X6 M50d. The X6 M50d (along with its X5 brother) will have their market launch in just a few weeks. The M50d models feature the following specs: - Six-cylinder in-line diesel engine with M Performance TwinPower Turbo technology, aluminium crankcase, three turbochargers (high-pressure, with variable turbine geometry), common-rail direct injection with piezo injectors, maximum injection pressure: 2,200 bar. - Displacement: 2,993 cc, - Output: 280 kW/381 hp at 4,000 – 4,400 rpm, - Max. torque: 740 Nm (546 lb-ft) at 2,000 – 3 000 rpm BMW X5 M50d: Acceleration [0 – 100 km/h (62 mph)]: 5.4 seconds, top speed: 250 km/h (155 mph), average fuel consumption: 7.5 litres/100 kilometres (37.7 mpg imp), CO2 emissions: 199 g/km, exhaust standard: EU5. BMW X6 M50d: Acceleration [0 – 100 km/h (62 mph)]: 5.3 seconds, top speed: 250 km/h (155 mph), average fuel consumption: 7.7 litres/100 kilometres (36.7 mpg imp), CO2 emissions: 204 g/km, exhaust standard: EU5. Unfortunately, neither the X6 M50d nor M550d will make it stateside, but look for future gasoline M Performance models to make it to North America. Ironically, both the X6 and X5 M50d will be produced at BMW Plant Spartanburg in the USA. In case you missed it, we recently drove the M550d (F10) which shares the same engine as the X6/X5 M50d. We've published our review @ http://f10.5post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=653954 For more detailed info on the X6 and X5 M50d (and M Performance models in general), including full specs, dyno, and media, see http://f10.5post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=640422 See Our Full Geneva 2012 Coverage List: AC Schnitzer M5 (F10) Debut Hamman F10 M5 BMW X6 M50d World Premiere F20 125i M Performance with Slick Steering Wheel BMW M Performance Parts Launches With Full Parts Catalog BMW M6 Coupe (F13) World Premiere Breaking: M President Says Nein to X3M, Z4M and F11 M5 Touring 6 Series Gran Coupe Makes World Debut Alpina B6 Bi-Turbo Debuts Along with B3 GT3 and Uprated B5 AC Schnitzer F30 328i |

SWEET! I want one!! You can really see the future i8's AE's in this LCI update of the X series. I like the way the turn signal looks to be a wrap around orange neon tube.

Uhh what's with the 80s style camera on the front bumper? Sticking out so much...they could have made it the way it is in the 5 and 7. I think it needs a longer alphanumeric name to precisely identify it. Some more badges please.

To all the complainers about the lack of a performance bmw diesel offering in the states.... we had the 335d, it didn't sell well and most american consumers would have bought a 335i for less money.
However, the X5xdrive35d is a great seller. That's because the fuel economy and torque benefits only outweigh the higher price of diesel and the lower-revving nature of diesel engines when you're talking about 5000 lb SUVs. I would venture to say at least 50% of X5xdrive35d are "soccer moms." All we can hope for at this point is the higher output _40d engine coming to the X5 and more fuel efficient _20d models hitting the f20/f30.

Not a fan.. way too bulbous looking. Add to the fact, that horrendous badge. And total lack of versatility. I'll take the X5 over this weird thing any day. Is it going to be the X5xdriveM50d?? lol..
