325i with 330i intake manifold + ecu from this month's Bimmer Magazine
There's a huge discussion in the 'Under the Hood' forum about increasing the power from a 325i by using the 330i's intake manifold and chip.
Well this month's issue of Bimmer Magazine has a feature that did just that. http://bimmer-mag.com/art2/art2p1.html I'm not sure if anyone has seen it yet or if it's a but I thought I'd share and shed some light for the 325i'ers and possibly us 328i'ers. It is a bit pricey at approximately $5,700 |

Good article. Extract from your post above. "... To improve performance on its 325i project car, TMS swapped that single-stage intake for a three-stage unit sourced from a 330i, then reprogrammed the software with more aggressive settings for fuel and ignition mapping as well as cam timing. In addition to the intake and software work, TMS installed less-restrictive exhaust manifolds and catalytic converters to improve exhaust flow by 30%. Together, the performance upgrades result in a very worthwhile gain of 50 horsepower (41 additional hp at the rear wheels) over the stock 215, as well as a 35 lb-ft increase in torque. The total of 265 hp is also 10 hp up on the 330i s stock 255 hp..."

glad this happened. creative has had way to much time to get something together and hasnt done anything, while turner is asking way to much i think this may spur creative to get this done so they dont lose to much bussiness.
as many others have said this 325 to 330 conversion is a gold mine |

I wonder how much just for the engine work -- to get to 265 HP...
Also, a $5700 extra Bimmer charges for the 330 is not only extra 40 HP, but also Xenons and Logic 7 that are standard on the 330, and we all know how much those cost after market... So, if this engine upgrade and tuning with labor costs anything less than $4k or so, I'd be interested... |

I read the article and I could not determine how much of the $5700 was for the engine work and how much was for the other performance upgrades like the suspension.

If it includes the coilovers, exhaust manifolds, less restrictive cats, Supersprint cat-back exhaust, 3-stage manifold & software........ I'll keep searching Turner's website for updates! |

Nice article, but if someone was really going to tune his 325i to a 330i, I don't think the amount of money spent is worth it...

I have an honest question here:
DO YOU GUYS KNOW HOW TO READ? "They re also more amenable to modification, since the $5,700 premium charged by BMW for the more powerful 330i sedan can go instead toward performance upgrades." What they are saying is that the price difference between a BMW 325 and a 330 is $5700, not that this modification cost $5700. |

While the article does not include pricing (and remember, there are 4 different kits, so price will vary), it does state:

why not just buy a 330 instead of spending 5k from the start....i mean when you were buyin your car didnt realize a 330 was only like 4-5k more then the 325....and now thats why im upgrading to a 335i coupe

I think the 5700 includes all the other stuff done to the car like wheels, H&R Coilovers, etc.

the big deal here is that if you 325i owners can source the 330i intake manifold on your own, you can probably just get turner to do the software for you and get you to 255 ponies.
The (roughly) 5700 dollars spent on the 325i in the article included the interior trim bits and suspension... don't need that to make a 325 a 330 |

The 330i has bigger brakes, standard xenons, Logic 7, power seats, different clutch, etc., as well as the different intake and exhaust. I agree that a 325i owner is way better off selling his car and buying a used 330i, if that's what he wants. Or better yet, buy a used 335i for even more power. Article is interesting, though.
