High-Powered BMW X6 M Special Model Spied!
BIMMERPOST NEWS High-Powered BMW X6 M Special Model Spied! As if the X6M did not already have enough power, an even higher powered BMW X6 M model has just been spied testing in Germany! This is the 'special X6M' which SCOTT26 referred to yesterday. So far, it features a massive hood air scoop and what appears to be taped up air extractor outlets (cosmetic only?) flanking the scoop. The sideskirts are also a more aggressive design than the regular X6M. The current X6M already boasts 555hp. Could we possibly see 600hp or more in this even higher powered X6M? Taking guesses on the final power numbers, so chime in. |

Even bigger turbos possibly?
600HP estimate is probably on a low side Simple ECU flush puts out even higher numbers with existing stock setup On the side note: Rocker pannels (aka side skirts) are a bit different from regular M It looks like they added another piece on top of existing molding |

Who cares if the X6 gets this, just make sure it finds its way on the X5M. LOL no offense X6 owners. It would just be stupid to limit it to the X6 because its just as much of a pig as the X5M, just the X5 looks much better fo reallll tho.

If there is a special edition X6M, then there would surely be a special edition M5 in the future... Possibly a part of the ceramic brake package. (let's hope)

This is the engine setup they will use in the M5 LCI - that's right, I'm already talking about the refresh when the M5 is only a day old LOL.

The last thing that car needed was more power. It needs less weight

Also, please help me understand the technical difference between the two cars drivetrains and suspension setups to help me understand why there exists a performance difference as stated in your post........Thanks.......Steve

You 're right, there is no technical difference in drivetrain and suspension However, have you driven both, side by side? You'll feel the difference between any X6 and X5 given the same trim and setup The main difference here is the height Lower center of gravity in X6 gives you THAT much of a difference It's like driving one nice sport car for a little while and then lift it by 3 inch and drive it again What do you think it would feel like? People lower their cars by just 1/2 inch to gain some great handling capabilities I'm not even going to go into other stuff that's different between these two, e.g. lighter wheels, geometry of the car. Height alone is enough to make a lot of difference in performance, not just straight line acceleration I hope this clears things up for you Last edited by AndreyATC; 06-15-2011 at 09:04 PM.. |

For the 2 BMW customers that drive their X6M to the limit and complain out the lack of power? Hell, even 2 is on the high side of that estimate.
What is the point of this? Why is this a project and all of the "special edition" M3s get poorly thought-out and basic cosmetic enhancements only? In an M3, this would be epic. In a 5,000 lb SUV, it's ridiculous.
