Possible to see how fast you´re going on the E92´s instruments?

I´m used to this on my Mercedes and just ordered an E92 coming in oct., was wondering if you could see the speed you´re doing in the instruments in front of you..?

Wow at first I thought you were asking about a speedometer.

Maybe you're inquiring as to whether the BMWs have HUDs available? Or just a digital kph readout?

Haha, probably

Good one tough, I´m home with fever and a cold so guess that´s my excuse..

What I meant was, can you see it in the display?

I like that in my MB, makes you see more exactly how fast you´re going..

No 3-series (that I know of) come stock with a digital speedometer readout (don't know if the HUD option for 5-series and up does though). Makes it feel more classy in my opinion. Kind of like the difference between a Casio digital watch and an Omega dialed watch.

Okay, thanx, not a problem tough, just got used to it..

And when I test drove the E92 I saw that when you activate the cruise control the current speed comes up in the display..

Thought that maybe you could have it up there all the time..

Coming from a Mazda to the 3-series.... I don't really need a readout for the speedo. The "precision" of the needle is awesome. Yea, it sounds kinda dumb, but if you drive one you'll notice how nice it looks.

Hmm, didn't know that. Have yet to use cruise control though, maybe that explains it.

Learn something every day.

Mk335i, one more thing.. Off topic..

I see that you have the 09 with, probably, the new i-drive..?

I´ve ordered with the new i-drive, and heard you have some GB on the hd for music storage, can you rip music directly from cd´s in the car or do you have to burn songs in mp3 format first and then download to the hd..?

No, no what you see on the dispaly is your desired CC speed, not current actual speed..

Rips in the car. You have 12 GB (roughly) to store your own music.

You can do either. It will rip from a CD (to .wma format, I believe), or you can load up a thumb drive with MP3s, WMAs, etc and transfer them directly. The cool part is if you rip it direct from a CD, it will rip it about 6X-10X faster than normal playing speed, but you can start playing the tracks almost instantly at normal speed simultaneously and it continues to rip in the background. As tracks complete they're added to the playlist and are then available to be played.

Looking forward to try this!

Nice if you got a friend with you in the car that has a cd or song you like, you can just rip it right away and then have it for later on your harddisk..

Access the hidden menu and the actual speed is probably somewhere in there.

The hidden menus can show your speed in KPH.

I think this is what you're all looking for:

http://e90.wetpaint.com/page/BC+hidden+menus?t=anon (non-iDrive)
http://e90.wetpaint.com/page/iDrive+hidden+menus (iDrive)

Lots of neat stuff in there.
