idle surge and inconsistent acceleration - all 3series lemons?

i have a 2006 330i 4door.
so ive been dealing with a random idle spike where the rpms jumps about 100 or 200 rpms and makes the car shake/jerk for a second and it goes away since i got my car new. also a poor rough inconsistent idle and inconsistent acceleartion. service says its the gas - yeah right. so i take it in twice and they dont fix anything and say its me being too picky or noticing too many things. until i drive with a tech that has the diagnostics hooked up on the 3rd service visit and waaaalaaaa the car is supposed to stay within -200 and +200 for smooth running and randomly / inconsistently it will acclerate within parameters or go out of the range in the -300's or +300's. so they change all coils and plugs and the same day i pick it up the car misfires and throws a check engine light and cant drive AT THE SERVICE CENTER. So now i am no longer the picky customer that is over analyzing whats going on but im one of a few people in the country that realized that the 330 had something inherently wrong with it as do all of them 325 or 330. oh well - im getting out of my lease. owners you should keep an eye out for inconsistent acceleration as one of your injectors may foul leaving you stranded- luckily for me it happened while my car was already at service from just having been "fixed". so anyways, the injector issue is something that bmw knows about and seems that they want to keep it on the low. they are trying to address the issue with new vendors supplying the injectors. i had my cylinder 5 injector replaced but the car still idles like shit and it doesnt fix the rpm jump that the car has making it jerk. accleration has smoothed but i guess in another 6000 miles it will need changing again. No thanks bmw.

i dont know. they may not be lemons but they have drivetrain issues that bmw knows about and hasnt told their top service techs about.... my service tech only found out because he went to a bmw engineers forum the day after i brought my car in to get serviced and brought up my issues iwth some of the engineers there that relayed the injector info to him. this is what i was told.

I hope they don't have injector problems with the new DI engines.

I've had this same issue (I have step) and when I took mine in, I was told that they re-programmed the tranny... yeah right. I looked at the service slip when I got home and there was NO mention of it.
Sometimes the car kicks down hard and other times no go.. more like a linear power boost. I was told by my SA that "this is normal with all of the newer BMW's, that there is a slight lag in response" I don't know if that's true but I'm going to tell him tomorrow when I have my passenger airbag sensor replaced.

My 2006 E90 323i has 20,000km and 6 months and it runs like a friggen swiss watch.

I love one guy has a problem and then says that the whole product line is fucked. If you pissed, take your leased car to the dealer and tell them to make it happen, then go have a beer and relax.

Curious to know how you broke in your car as well.

According to BMW, the new engine is 35% put together by machines 65% by human. Problems will occur. Communicate everything to the service folks and prior to taking delivery after service, let the car run in the service area for an extended period of time to see if the problem is fixed to your satisfaction. If they take pride in their work, they should have no problem letting you do that.

Be careful with the off the collar comments though. You're likely to get an earfull in here.

My 2005 325 E90 has 16,000kms and I do not recall ever experiencing any idle jumps, anytime. My car has been very reliable without any issues.

So based on my experience with my wonderful car, can I state that all 3 series are perfect?

Wow...one troublesome car means the whole damn lot is faulty?

Talk about a COMPLETE lack of common sense.

I just took mine in yesterday complaining about the same problem. The idle will surge a bit and then go back down. Doesn't happen all of the time but enough to drive me nuts. AC is not on and car has properly warmed up and not first thing in the morning. The car shakes a little bit as well. I thought it might be the lifters reading some of the other post and they told me that the spikes were normal but anything in the 1000 range I would need to bring. I thought I was just being picky but I see I'm not the only one. I was also complaining about the ticking noise from the engine and they said that it was just the lifters. I had the tech ride with me as well and he noticed the spikes as well and said it was fine. Anyone else with the same problem?
