Correct

No, it cannot be retrofitted

Apparently has to do with emissions ( warmup time) and typincal driving conditios in USA compared to other markets

Well, it is pretty hot these days in most of the United States.

Do you know/have a guess how much of a difference this change makes in oil temperature?

Not too much

Traffic conditions have a larger effect

Must have a role based on the ....

...documentation that I got (...from EUrope.) It's esspecially good to have when driving in extreme temperatures because cools the oil in the hot weather and rises faster the oil temperature in winter. And thanks God, we have them both here in US. I guess this has more to do with BMW trying to make more profit on expense on the less tech. savy americans?!

Ask here

Not many differences
Basically

Euro E90 one has oil/water heat exchanger ( just a small add on/change to the oil filter housing )

Euro ones have round air filters/ USA ones hae flat airfilters and a carbon filter after the air filter

No, their docs say that its better without it in average USA conditions for how the original N52's run

Its just a slightly different oil filter housing with a coolan pipe running to it.
Cost difference is very small

The uprated ones in the USA Z4 and X3 facelift do have them though

If I needed a direct translation of what it was I would have asked for it. I was just curious on what it actually did. Sorry not a car expert & modder here
