N55 No Start Issue

I’ve been having an issue with my e92 cranking but not starting then after a few tries it starts with no problem. When I put the key in, the wipers will not shut off and the speedometer doesn’t work along with my steering wheel buttons. A few days ago it wouldn’t start at all and every time I put the key in, the wipers are nonstop. jumped it and got it running today, took it for a 20-minute drive or so and the wipers would not shut off, the speedometer did not come on, and my steering wheel functions did not work either. Checked the fuse box and many are corroded but I was thinking there was a possible battery issue. is it possible that these fuses are causing my issue?

When you put the key in the ignition do you hear a buzzing/humming sound coming from the fuse box? Can you check voltage during startup and when car is cold? Any codes?

Just hooked up to th multi meter and it read 12.08v then when i started it it went down to 10.6v. I don’t hear either the fuel pump or the the fuse box when I press the key into the ignition.

This is why I was so worried about removing my entire interior to get the water out from under the carpet.

Unfortunately, it looks like the corrosion has spread so the interior of the car has been damp or ridden with moisture for a long time which can affect the cars electronic systems in all sorts of strange ways.

The pockets of corrosion can be partially conductive and short out modules spawning electrical gremlins.

More than likely, it IS the corrosion causing these issues somewhere in your electrical system.

I had major water leak because the passenger side of the sunroof was leaking.

It seems like the carpet has enough foam under it to absorb months worth of water without you noticing. It can also pool in the front floorboards and leak down the front pillars.

I’m just stumped because I tested all the fuses and they all have power and none are blown, which doesn’t mean they can’t be the issue since there is so much corrosion, but how come I was able to jump it but then other times it wouldn’t start?

It's more of an issue of incorrect voltages being sent to various computers in the car so it confuses them and causes all sorts of electrical gremlins. When there is such corrosion present, it can and will cause all sorts of strange electrical issues. Maybe clean as much as you can and place damp rid in the interior and try to remove any water under the upholstery.

I’ll start with the TCCM since I know it has taken some water damage.

So… update on this post for anyone that cares but as I suspected, the small hole in the windshield seal that led to water damage ended up causing a lot more damage. it just so happened to snow 16 inches this past week and as I was waiting for a tow during that time to get it to a shop I never thought about clearing the area of snow. that being said my car is torn apart rn and I'm praying to god I don’t have to fork out 5k in repairs for my car to be fixed. sounds like a typical bmw water moisture issue...

IMo, what you need to do is secure your vapor barriers... clear your drains, make sure you stop ingesting water

put a dehumidifier on a board of wood on the back seat.. and run it till it stops pulling moisture

a day or 3, till the bucket starts not filling up in 8 hours,

*get your self a lil thermometer with humidy put it on the dash so you can see it,

then you can start working on cleaning up the connectors, the fuse box the bus......

this is nothing new..
