idrive threw a wobbly

whilst driving today had the oem nav directing me and the screen just went black for several minutes and then came back on normally ,,,,this is the sort of gremlin that drove me insane on the cupra i got rid of ......first time this has happened tbh since i got the car on the 30th sept. anyone else had this at all ?

yeah, I had 2 variations of that. First I had a complete screen failure of the non-iDrive portion of the display. But I also have CarPlay that goes blank all the time.

The dealer said that BMW determined the screen failure was from some controller for the screen, and necessitated a new screen. It is very possible that there is a controller for the instrument portion, and a second one for the iDrive. It is possible that one of those failed on your car. They just swap in a new display and all is well. The second set of problems I had, I am being told are software related and they dealer needs to re-load my firmware. That problem is ongoing, and probably a tougher fix.

Thanks hoping its a 1 off ,if it does it every 2k miles or every few months i can live with it....watch this space....
