For the automatic, the G87 has digital key support, and only with certain phones.

The convenience of remote unlock/lock is so good..i hope they put DK+ so I dont have to carry keyfob all the time…

This is my second biggest annoyance with the car… aside from for 360 camera… the manual doesn’t get a god damn digital key.

Ugh it’s annoying. However, I’d take the camera over the key. I’m constantly parking 5 feet from the curb 😂

I drove a 330i for the last 3 years with a digital key and got used to never carrying my fob with me. Used my phone and watch exclusively to unlock and drive.
I hate the fact I have a newer car that’s twice as expensive that doesn’t come with that tech included just because they were too lazy to design a new tray to fit an NFC reader for the manual transmission.

It used to be so useful when I had to run out to grab something from my car and I could just use my watch to unlock and lock it real quick. Now I have to go to grab my stupid fob every time.


Absolutely trash decision.

It’s 2024, I shouldnt have to carry a bulky cheap plastic piece of shit to start my car when the tech has been around for a decade.

It doesn’t come in the manual transmission versions because BMW was too lazy to modify the smaller phone tray in front of the shifter to accommodate NFC.
We also get the shittier wireless charger in the armrest from 2012
