Hello,

I've done tons of searching around just was hoping for some clarification before I attempt doing a mirror tap install (planning on Uniden R7 atm) in my 2023 BMW M240xi G42 (Idrive 8 curved display type).

Basically I've just seen some conflicting info and haven't seen any videos with my exact car, so things like the rearview mirror etc seem different, along with which harness/color wires to tap into (there seems to be a black harness & a red/pinkish one, some videos say just tap into black one, others say red wire goes into one & black wire goes into other)

To make things more confusing, I called BMW & spoke to a service advisor who while trying to be helpful wasn't very, and according to him didn't see switched power in the harness for my vehicle. He sent me some schematics that I've included on this post which I haven't found very helpful.

Since I obviously don't want to screw anything up or end up shorting something, can someone by chance give me definitive instructions on exactly which cords to tap into, etc that will work for my exact vehicle?

Would really appreciate any help/assistance, thanks in advance!

This. The original post is way more complicated than this needs to be. Tap into 2 wires, job done. Takes 30 seconds.
