IDrive 7 - Update OTA questions

IDrive 7 - "software is up to date"

I am a first time BMW owner so forgive me if this is a silly question.

I own a 2022 M240xi and it is running idrive 7 version: 11/2021.40

The mybmw app, the car, and BMW's vin lookup all say that the car is on the latest version.

Looking online, many other 2022 m240 owners are on much newer firmware versions.

Can anyone explain to me why that is or how I can fix this?
Thank you

There's a service bulletin on the issue. I went to dealer and they said they can't update during Service. I've since found this bulletin saying it's known issue and what they need to do.

I guess usually they can't bill for it but this shows them how they can

Thank you, I will reach out to my dealership with this information. Frustrating that they didn't even mention this

When it comes to the tech stuff most dealerships have no clue what they are doing.

Just to follow up on this post.
I talked with my dealership and referenced the SIB 09 03 21 document.
They updated the car from 11/2021.40 to 07/2023.58
Be warned, the update is not free ($200), even with the SIB.
I got the update for free because I explained I was having connectivity issues with android auto and the dealership was able to process it under warranty with BMW corporate.
Thank you all for your help!

You’re the first I’ve come across that has suggested there’s a cost associated with the update. I’ve had it done twice by my dealer, once for my previous M135i and again for my M240i, a charge was never discussed or implied.

BMW Dealership and BMW Corporate both stated they are unable to Warranty Bill "Just an update". There has to be a documented "issue" for the update to be covered under warranty.
Most dealerships are nice and just create some BS issue to get it covered.
But yes, If there is not a documented issue (crashes, bugs, connection issues) and the dealership doesn't like you, You can be billed $200 for the work. As you stated in another post "it’s not cheap due to the time it takes."

My point was that this was the first occasion I''d heard of a dealership saying a customer would have to pay for it; so far everyone seems to be able to get it done without a charge
