It's really a shame that the G87 has the monstertruck wheel gap. Seems like everyone is sacrificing performance and slapping on lowering springs, which is understandable. Sucks that you have to go with coilovers if you want to have a proper stance though without screwing up the handling. Seems like this car proved that the other one he drove was basically ruined by the owner, at least ruined as a Ring car, which was probably not the focus. I think shops like this are going to get a ton of performance out of this platform, excited to see what they can do. Been following Jackie Ding closely, would kill to see his car on the Ring. He's building an absolute weapon.

I wish he'd tell us more about what lowering springs were used.

I did order the port installed MP HAS (made by KW). I'm hoping it actually provides a slight track improvement and not a negative.

At least most of the tracks I'd be driving at are less bumpy than the N'ring.

I hope I didn't make a mistake.



P.S. Also not sure why he doesn't play with the settings during such a long lap - he could have easily switched the suspension from sport to sport+ or comfort to try it out.

I think it’s funny what people think is wheel gap anymore. The gap is not too huge IMO. I think we’ve gotten desensitized to slammed cars.

lol "cheat code" - someone at a car meet who owned a 1M told me the same thing about my G87 and the S58 motor alone being a "cheat code"

I’d be willing to bet the MP HAS kit is the way to go to improve performance while getting rid of the gap. I think it’s for this reason that the MP HAS gives the most modest lowering compared to most other lowering springs (looks perfect to me).

I hope you are right. Luckily I have driven G87s with stock suspension on the street and track, though for brief stints.

When my car arrives, I should have a good basis of comparison on his the MP has handles.

That is assuming my car gets here before I forget how the stock ride felt.

I'm not saying I want it slammed but you cannot honestly say the gap is not bigger than it should be for a performance car.

I think the Eibach springs really sit where it should have come from the factory

I agree really. It's not like BMW is the only car with gaps like this:

My 718 GTS has roughly the same wheel gap at the M2 and it’s 20mm lower than the standard 718 suspension.

I’ve got the HAS and 200 miles on my G87 and the ride is amazing and not to stiff at all. IMO it’s the #1 one MP option to get. Enjoy!

I have one of those miatas and the gap is insane. Plus the suspension is so soft that I worry about scratching my door handles when in corners!

It's hard to say why they gave the M2 so much gap when previous M-cars did not have it....but there is likely a decent explanation. I have the HAS, and it does seem to be approx. where previous M's used to sit. I'll comment after I pick the M2 up this week.

Yes, nothing more frustrating than a fast car driver blasting down the straights, then not giving a point-by when caught up by a ‘slow’ car at every set of corners.
