hey all, I purchased my first bmw which is my m2 & I love it.
I want it to be as healthy as possible and it felt great stock, now with bm3 stage 1 91acn it feels like a nice little jump in power. Just curious what people may think about my log below. I think it looks good as does a friend more inclined about bmw tuning, he noted to me the IAT increase is causing the timing corrections in final gear, which seems to make sense with me as it’s a stock car. https://bootmod3.net/log?id=650930dfd10b430ffaa93c33 Being in canda it was a no brainer for me to buy cts. I have a cts catless downpipe, cts intercooler & cts turbo inlet. I also purchased vrsf chargepipe, Gfb DV+, afe filter & afe oem intake mod. I am planning to dyno the car stock, then do all at once with stage 2 91acn & new oem plugs and compare results |

I enjoyed the power stock so this is a nice increase. The car is very fun as is. My daily is significantly faster than the m2 so I guess it’s true driving a slow car fast is more fun

Sub-optimal, but unlikely to lead to a blown motor is my assessment from everything I’ve been able to gather.
These cars are primarily limited by fueling and octane (knock-resistance). If you want a cleaner log with this tune, you’ll have to increase octane. Since Canada has maybe 4 E85 stations, this may not be an option which leaves you with octane boosters like Boostane and VP Octanium or race gas. The additive route can potentially harm your cats with heavy extended use and a barrel of race gas to blend in is expensive, so don’t have a lot of great options unfortunately. I just logged it with stock tune and it has similar corrections in 4th gear when it reaches 114 temperature 🤒 Stock log here https://bootmod3.net/log?id=650b78ead10b430ffaaac909 Is there a way to see in that log that the timing reduction is 100% the fuel? Stft and other things look good to me but open to your thoughts! We will see when the IC goes on if the timing pull continues |

110* is the threshold I’ve seen mentioned on IATs for temp specific timing correction. So yeah, it’s a factor, but it all relates to knock-resistance. The cooler charge air from the IC will help but it’s really not enough for much more than S1.
YMMV and the IC could be your panacea but typically people find the limit is octane and after that the HPFP. |

I find the stock tune has faster initial power delivery, but doesn’t carry the power through the rpm range as much as the stage 1 currently does. I’m going to install the IC and turbo inlet first and do some more logs before I do the downpipe. I don’t think I’ll have to worry about HPFP on pump fuel, typically only e30+ mixtures have to upgrade this from what I’ve read and been told I’ll post here if you or anyone is interested |

I would have done another Intercooler than the CTS but the rest of the mods are fine. IATS at 110F are way too high.
I wouldn’t bother with stage 1 - I think it produces less peak power compared to stock, but more torque. |

Having gone down the road you’re on, looking back, I would have prioritized HPFP and octane as those are the keys to unlock big gains with a squeaky clean tune. Last edited by ThreeStripes; 09-20-2023 at 08:35 PM.. |

Have you seen datalogs to show the CTS isn’t adequate for the M2 on stage 2? Couldn’t find any info other than a forum vendor in here saying they have sold many without issues |

It's small, and has meh fin density and costs as much as better options.

you must have first hand experience with logging it or know someone that has used it and reviewed logs. I haven’t seen any posted.
Was significantly cheaper than others when I purchased! Thanks for feedback |

Maybe it is me, but I don’t get tuning an M2. My M2 has more than enough power for me on both the street and track.

There are old logs of it floating around from when it was first released, but it's basically "old" now in comparison to other offerings. Your money.

I was asking about the log but you decided to trash my IC choice with no evidence other than what you think, which is fine but just odd haha I’m hoping it will work well! If it doesn’t I will try the VRSF race |

Pretty normal looking log imo.
fuel pressure fine boost fine AFR and STFT fine cyl pulling timing midway through a run is pretty normal i think. mine used to do it but not as bad anymore. Might just be fuel quality. I'm far from an expert but I'd personally call that a healthy log.

Literally the first reply in that thread
“That's pretty darn effective for an inexpensive intercooler. It doesn't heat soak, and IATs are never more that 20 degrees over ambient. Hell, IATs at 70* were better than the stock IC at 30*!” Seems like it will be a great upgrade for me over my stock IC currently thanks for linking the logs you found, I didn’t think to check the suv forum |
