BMW DIY Guy 'Nimona' G87 build out thread

Well all.. so it begins with the new G87 M2, and the start of what no doubt will be an epic build out thread. I will keep a running log of the build as she progresses here, and track the changes, updates and more. The crazy thing is, as of right now (july 2023) I already have 4+ projects lined up for a car that hasnt even been built yet. Crazy huh?

I will keep this going as the build progresses to match what was done with the F32 and the F87 no doubt. Not much to show right now, but the next few months before the car gets here will be busy with planning and lining up projects, then going to hit it HARD in October.

I am excited to share this journey with you!

I have lots and lots of possible items on the radar, but won't add them to the build plan until confirmed.

For now.. still stage 3 of the build process.

Initial impressions are very very positive, other than the audio system. The HKs really aren't great with very little richness to the full sound range. I cannot wait to tear them out for a full set of Bimmertech Aplha Ones with speakers, subs and amp.

Huge updates to the build list with a number of new items completed, and the pending list filled out.

It's dawned on me what BMW has done with the G87. The biggest shock was the shift from the F87, and the change was jarring.

The G87 has flat door handles, horizontal kidneys and front grill accents, and a more boxy sharp edged design.

Tell me the G87 isn't a modern homage to the classic E30 M3? The similarities are striking once I realized it.

Throw on some gold BBS wheels and suddenly it's an updated E30!

Well done BMW, and all the reservations I had about the G87 evaporated!

Hmmm... gold BBS wheels.. I wonder what might be coming in BBS boxes?
