I know I have seen this on here before, but it seems like I couldn't find an actual resolution. Do any of you guys know a proper fix to navigations apps (Waze, Google Maps, Apple Maps) showing the correct location. Sometimes I'll be using them and it'll show my icon as in the woods or on a completly different road. The only fix I have found is to use my phone in Bluetooth mode and use navigation on my phone.

For reference I am using iDrive 8, I never had this issue when using iDrive 7 in my old car.

Yeah, I was reading those post and it sucks there is no resolution yet. I feel like this is something BMW should be tracking by now, especially since multiple people are having this issue. I'm only about 48hrs into this car and it started having this issue; I'd imagine there are tons of people in the same boat just living with it.

I’ve had random locations of my car parked in a 1 mile radius of my house show in the BMW app at times. First time I saw that right after bringing it home I ran to the window to see if the car was still there. It was. The app showed the car down the block!

Seems like its more of a iDrive8 or GPS issue with the newer models, I'm leaning more towards iDrive8.

Too bad. My 2020 m340xi had several iDrive issues that took 2 years to resolve via OTA updates.

Maybe 8.5 will fix it.

Dumb question, will 8.5 be an ota update or is that a from the factory install.

Not a dumb question at all. No one knows for sure as there hasn’t been any specific mention of the 2 series getting it, however there have been some articles that seem to indicate all ID8 cars will eventually get the upgrade. With that being said I saw a demo of ID 8.5 and I am torn about it. They changed the Home Screen where the entire Home Screen is the nav map. It is terrible. However, the climate controls are WAY better.

Good to know, I had ID7 before 8. I do have to say more often than not I just use apply car play which is by far much better considering the screen size. Nevertheless, when it comes to actual OS use with ID8 I find it can be kind of a pain .
