Making phone calls

I have a 230i with Apple Carplay, and a current model iphone. I have yet to figure out how to (easily) 'ask' either the car or Carplay/iphone to make a phone call to a given person (e.g., 'please call John Doe').

When I press the 'call' button on the steering wheel, the car tells me that function is not available (e.g., the iphone holds that function). There's no button I can press to access Siri and ask 'her' to make the call.

Guidance is appreciated

You have to long press on the mic button on the steering wheel to invoke Siri (quick press for BMW Assistant)

Yeah, hold the button. Tap for the car, hold for Siri.

I had same question.. ha-ha!!! Thanks everyone, I also figured it out day 2 by pressing and hold the Microphone button and not the phone button while carplay is activated
