Oil specification

Anybody from US can confirm your manual got :
01405A02A68 part number?

Anybody from EU can confirm your manual got :
01405A02A39 part number?

Big difference in oil spec. EU allows even 5W40 to this car with LL-04 spec... But in EU people don't care much as we don't make big mileage (higher viscosity lower mpg or higher l/km), what I can't say about US people.

In US :

In EU :

In Europe you can drive with your own oil 0W40 because that's in manual just to make sure it's LL-04 with ACEA C2/C3 norm. Due to valvetronic BMW is very very sensitive on the oil. But this oil is 0W40 got LL-04 and ACEA C3 so it's fine for BMW in EU.

I must admit when I had 535xd F10 I was doing 1 oil change between those silly 20000km intervals (oil changes every 10000km). Pouring same spec : 5W30 oil LL-04 but was taking Motul X-Clean+ as far as I remember (sold this car in 2019).

When I went to those free service inclusive changes I couldn't believe how bad the engine was running on OEM oil vs the one I was pouring between warranty intervals, so last 2 years I was asking to pour my own oil to the car despite OEM was free of charge.

But I still don't get it ... Why US allows only weak viscosity to the same cars (in Mercedes it is the same issue, maybe because 70mph is max in the US) vs EU where no limits are allowed on highways in Germany for example and it might be a danger traveling on no limit highways with 0W20 oil on 300HP+ high revving. I have never been so tired than traveling on US highways with 65mph on cruise control...
