Significantly more likely to get blood clots every time you fly. It is completely blown out of proportion. Got my AZ shot last week. Hoping it stays banned down there so the 20M AZ shots stockpiled down there get shipped to Canada.

This is actually true.

And blood clots are a side effect of birth control, which is the concern with young women, its entirely possible the increase in white blood cells as a reaction to the vaccine (and ANY vaccine) might just be triggering what is a common side effect to birth control.

Basically the high levels of hormones that come with pregnancy (and faking pregnancy, which is how birth control works) increases the risk of blood clots:

https://www.uofmhealth.org/health-li...ary%20embolism.

Being said, dont dismiss his concern. They are doing the right thing: Getting it and just keeping an eye on things. NOTHING WRONG with monitoring possible symptoms, just hopefully dont lose too much sleep over it.

Stay off WebMD, its NOT cancer.

I just got the Az jab so feel I can comment rationally. The whole "more chance of blood clot flying" thing is a bit misleading as the AZ clots are far more serious and a far higher death rate.

If i was in Australia or NZ i'd wait for another vaccine but here, it is a total debacle, totally out of control so best I get the jab. So far feel fine.

It is very unfortunate for the aussies as they did everything right, really hard, fast lock downs, hard line border control, hard line quarantine and they have basically zero community spread. They sat back, waited for the rest of the world to guinea pig the vaccines then decided to back AZ as they can produce it locally and the storage is so much easier than the mRNA vaccines. Production was about to be ramped up locally and Canada will tell you that you MUST produce it yourself or be left short, so they've done all this right then AZ had these issues. Such a shame.

Another side-effect occurred a couple of weeks after I got my 2nd Pfizer shot and that is to tip waitresses heavily.

I think I have a blood clot in my left leg as of this morning. Pfizer shot last wed. Woke up with swelling, pinpoint pressure pain on lower shin almost like I'd smacked it but I definitely did not. Was limping at the gym this morning.

It's now red and it feels warm.

Hmm, was something (or things) about that waitress also heavy?

If so then that is what we would call a "confounding factor."

Not typically an issue with the double-shots but as always: consult your doc.

Just did, doc thinks it's erythema nodosum as an immune system response to the vaccine. Heel is also bruised which happens with me when I get sick so probably all playing into autoimmune issue.

Hope you feel better. Haven't heard of that with the 2 dose vaccines, but keep us informed if you hear anything new.

Great thread, we all learning from one another on what to expect and not. Props to who started it.

Interesting. Back in Dec 2019 when I got the sickest I have ever been with either a really bad flu or covid, regardless some kind or really bad flu like illness. The joint in one thumb got super swollen and painful. A year later and after many doctors visits and my own research it's apparently psoriatic arthritis. I never had any kind of joint issues previous to getting sick, however I've now come to find out I have had psoriasis on my nails for a long time which was misdiagnosed for many many years.

So whatever immune response my body had to whatever virus I had seems to have trigged my psoriasis into overload and maybe trigged the psoriatic arthritis. It sucks, but luckily it seems to be isolated to the one thumb right now. Hopefully it does not get worse.

I was suppose to go in for my first shot today, but was not feeling well today. My temperature was slightly elevated which seems to be normal for me, but I just didn't feel like going in today so I rescheduled for tomorrow. We'll see how I wake up.

Had both rounds of the Pfizer, the 2nd being this past Saturday, and the 1st one 3 weeks before that. No issues aside from soreness in the arm that got poked for about 24-48 hours...I actually still feel it just a tad as I type this.

Got my first Pfizer this week, sore arm, slight muscle soreness and tiredness. Being Pfizer I figured it would feel right at home with the Viagra I've tried recreationally

My son and his GF got Pfizer last Tuesday. Both had sore arms. He got sick as a dog, fever, chills, aches. Her, nothing. She and I are both Type 1 diabetics, and our partners are the ones who got reactions.

Coincidence?

Just how peoples immune system reacts. Some 20 year old triathletes feel like they get the full blown flu while grandma goes back to playing bridge. My buddy and I both got moderna at the same time. Same age group, both athletic, same race, and similar health history (NKA, no medications, not family history, etc). I felt like I got punched in the arm, he was bedridden.

Had my second Pfizer jab two hours ago. The person doing the shot this time went high up my arm, pretty close to my shoulder rotator cup. On my way home, I felt warmth a little lower on my arm...almost as if the sun was shining on it. It subsided in an hour, and I have no other side effects to mention so far, beyond the urge to buy a Microsoft Zune MP3 player.....

I would say that is an extremely bad side effect... no one and i mean no one in their right mind would buy a Zune Mp3 player
