2006 330i e90 with ZF 6 speed

While driving over some rough asphalt the battery safety explosive went off. The next day or so when he tried to start it it failed to start.

This isn't my car but is girlfriend's kid's car. He is mostly deaf but described hearing something when he drove over some rough asphalt.

My first thought was that he was driving aggressively and almost got into a wreck but we didn't say anything about how the BST works and he described the noise over rough road.

When inspecting the car there were no signs of damage on the bumper or any sign of accident but the plastic around the BST was split. Pushing it back in place and taping fixing the no start issue.

Has anyone else experienced BST going off when it shouldn't?
